I thought it was really good. My only problem was that we didn't get more character development for that captain man person that tryed to kill the doctor with the claw, he was clearly insane, couldn't we delve a little deeper into his character? Otherwise, a great episode.

It was an alright episode in my opinion. Why it didn't each the standards I was hoping for or reach the standards of the previous two episodes I dont know.
Perhaps it was the general ATMOSphere (...lol), the fact that the ood were singing, the fact that man turned into an ood, or even my deep subconscious telling me to dislike the episode just due to the doctors blue suit...as that suit has a clear track record for me disliking each episode its in ( 42 doesn't count...i blame the lighting in said episode and the fact he has a costume change...)
Another reason was possibly when I saw the episode the first time around I think I zoned out near the end of it and i was still left wondering what caused the red-eye ( I then watched it again and now fully understand and like the whole brain telepathy thing btw)
So all in all I'm probably going to leave me properly judging that episode until I've seen the rest of the series and come back to look at that episode later to see what I think again.
so as for next week's episode I only hope I can look past my blue-suit prejudice and have a fully open mind for saturday 3nodding

I'm loving this current series, so far it's ticking all the right boxes for What I Like About Doctor Who. This is the best episode so far but I expect that'll change on a weekly basis. smile xX_Sugar Narcotic_Xx or even my deep subconscious telling me to dislike the episode just due to the doctors blue suit... S' funny. After Saturday's episode, being as I am a cross between a clothes horse and a weathervane, I went on eBay, bought a blue suit and some red trainers, then spent all of yesterday with my ladyfriend trawling the vintage clothing shops of Liverpool trying to find a brown trenchcoat (we did, on our absolute last port of call).
Why are we doing this? Mostly because we never arrived at the point at which the Dressing-Up Box no longer becomes a viable sartorial option, but partly so we can properly engage in our new exercise regime of Doctor Who Running.
It's very simple.
1) Dress as the Doctor and Companion(s) of your choice (or invent your own!). B) Find busy public place. 3/C) Leg it like you're being chased by gribbley alien menace du jour. iv) Derive innocent yet slightly perverse pleasure from looks of utter bewliderment on the faces of the general public.
There's a team form of this pastime called Doctor Who Tag, for which you'll need friends with alien costumes, few inhibitions and reasonably robust cardiovascular systems. domokun

Anyone wanna borrow my dad's fourth or sixth (whichever one he decides not to wear) and try it out in Minneapolis?

Even if I did get the outfit I wanted, nobody would get the joke over here... sweatdrop
I figure I'll dress as Ten and get my friend to be an alien and we'll run around school/mall and personally thank whoever recognizes us. (I can think of.. three? people. XD)

*laughs at the horrible puns in the poll*
Okay, I finished the episode a few hours ago... it was really good, although I'm annoyed/wondering at a few things..
1) The guard with the whip - it just doesn't feel right.. I'm fairly used to guns in Who now, but a whip was just overdoing it... we already knew they were a slave race from Series 2. stare (edit: okay, reading from the indepth thread, it does show an interesting change from our mindset of what slavery is, but still.. it's a bit much)
2) Where did the big brain come from? I suppose that wouldn't really need to be solved.. I just have to accept that it exists. smile It's not really a Deep Thought question (hey, you guys started up with the H2G2 references somewhere around here XD); more like a WTF question. Lalala hophophop. ^^
Also, the cryptic "your song is ending" line... I'm pessimistic in saying that it could mean a new regeneration...but from what I've heard of the finale, it sounds like it's leading up to a loss of something (or someone).. like how we heard that pretty Doctor/Rose theme in Series 1 and 2, and then it changed accordingly for Martha and now Donna. I could have sworn I heard some of that old song right near that line being spoken. But I have to agree heavily with what Richard_Swift said in the other thread about the song... it could just be more of an idea that the Doctor will finally see that he isn't so lonely anymore.

Roobarb 1) The scene with the guy whipping the fallen over Ood was just unnecessary and made no sense. We already knew they were slave labour. Yeah, especially considering this company is in the business of selling Ood as nice, docile servants. It isn't good business to go around gratuitously putting scars all over your "servants"--it's liable to make your nice, rich, civilized customers uncomfortable and remind them of slavery, which might keep them from buying more Ood from you!

If it is true that "Planet of the Ood" chronologically comes before "Satan Pit", I'm afraid the obvious answer to me is...the people of the galaxies really AREN'T so nice and civilized after all, decided they weren't willing to give up their Ood, and somebody went and "shackled" their great brain again to make them stay slaves.

Has nobody seriously realize that the song being played when the Ood talk to the Doctor about how all songs must end is Rose's Theme?
Check it out. I'm willing to bet I'm right on this. But I believe that it's an instrumental version of her song.

I didn't think too much of that line at first, but once I thought about it, I'm optimistic. I thought he was talking about the Doctor's "sad song" so that would mean that he's going to not be angsty anymore! I'm slightly less optimistic because it probably means that Rose is gonna come back, and as far as I'm concerned, she had her time and should be gone now.

Small note: Any time the music swells and becomes all Emotional, (Dream of a Normal Death) or when it quiets down and you hear something Nostalgic (Doctor Theme, Doctor/Rose Theme)... you better stop listening to the music and pay attention to what's being said! Almost always it's gonna tie into something else later on.

(( mad Damn humans.
Honestly, though, I was glad to see the Ood brought back. They're my favourite species, second to the Movellans. All other matters are pretty much irrelevant, except that, of course, the episode did sort of beat us over the head with the obvious wrongness of slavery. And the Giant Brain was delightfully Old Who. Ah, the camp! <3 ))
