Once again, late reply...
That would be the mighty tomb of knowledge and enlightenment...the bargain buy purchase of "The BEST guide to Meditation" by Victor Davich. (it has Best in all caps...I mean, that' gotta be powerful! *snicker*) I got it somewhere between highschool and college because it easily referenced various cultural specific views of meditation-canonical hours, mantras (already found wanting!), koans, and mentions of Sufism and the Kabalah besides the normal prattling on about various forms of Buddhism.
It seemed like an interesting gathering of information to use as a springboard...and I've referenced it um...once this past year and dusted it loads of times. Although I've moved away from meditation techniques that seperate mind and body, it wasn't a bad cross section book. Not a whole lot of depth, but a good taste to stimulate further research.
