project: CONFESSION
Location: LizzyMoo's home It sounded so easy when he was with Sumigami. It really did! Confess his feelings through a picture for the one he loved. Origami shook his head slightly. He had promised his brother he'd confess immediately, yet now the inkling was only just finishing one half of the project called "Confession."
Placing the single piece of paper down, he stared at what seemed to be abstract artwork. He had to throw away about a dozen other pieces of paper before this. The inkling had tried to put all of his feelings and emotions down on paper, but doing such in the right manner was difficult. One little mistake, and he had to start over from scratch. It was a pity that ink did not erase.
A big sigh escaped the winged figure as he looked over the picture. Even now, it was evident he wasn't pleased with the picture. Origami knew he wasn't a talented artist. In fact, he had decided he was a talentless artist. His hearts were a bit messy, the trees looked like mere shrubs, and Evening Sky, his poor dear Evening Sky looked like an aardvark of all creatures. The only way one could even remotely figure out it was Evening Sky was he drew some of her beautiful markings in with red ink.
At least Sumi could make that thing with melons look like a kitsusagi..."That's a very nice drawing you have there, Origami. It's a very nice picture of an aardvark."His coal eyes widened, then glanced around behind him to find a dark blue kitsusagi sitting there, peering at his picture. How long had she been there? This is what I get for spacing out he firmly scolded himself in his mind.
"...it's... it's not an aardvark, Evening Sky..."Leaning in closer, she smiled and took another look at the picture.
"I have told you before, you don't have to call me that. Evie is just fine." Her green eyes narrowed a bit as she tried to figure out what the drawing was of. There were red splotches that looked slightly like hearts, but maybe it was her mind playing tricks on her."I think I explained this to you also, that I don't think anyone should shorten such a lovely name as you have, Evening Sky."
Origami swallowed hard after that. He was used to giving her that response, but that wasn't what made him so nervous. She was looking at half of the project: CONFESSION. And yet he was being an idiot and saying nothing useful. Heck, she didn't even realize what the picture was.
I'm no better off than I was before the inkling started to mentally sulk. Yet suddenly, almost as if a pile of bricks had been dropped on him, he remembered his brother's confidence in him. No, I HAVE to confess now! She needs to know how I feel for her!
"Evening Sky!!" he started off, waiting for he leading lady's attention again."Hmmmm?" Her eyes lifted up from the picture and glanced to the pale kitsusagi before her. Her ears perked up so she could be certain to not miss out a single word he was about to say.It was a sudden burst of confidence, but it all came pouring out from his mouth like a faucet left running:
"Evening Sky, this picture is something I made for you! I drew it to show you how I feel for you! I love you, Evening Sky. I always have since I was a pup, but my feelings are not of some child, I promise this to you! I love you with all my heart and soul, and I can hope that you will return these feelings for me!"
Some color had managed to make its way to Origami's face, and he looked to the dark blue femme for an answer. Yet just by looking at her face, some of the color left him and he just knew what was coming his way.Evie bit slightly at her thin canine lip. Her ears had lowered slightly as well, seeing as all the listening for the time being was over.
She started off carefully, as carefully as she could. She had known this was coming. "Thank you for the picture. I can see you spent much time working on it." She offered a slight smile, but it came off as sheepish-looking.
She cleared her throat, then started again. "Were you around the Mountain during the month of February?..."Why did everyone jump to that conclusion?!!
"No, I never even set foot at that place during that entire month! My feelings for you are real. Nothing but me, myself, and I decided how I feel for you!!""I see..." she noted hesitantly. Looking to Origami's face, she could see the anxiety she was obviously putting him through. Inside, she could feel a little bit of her heart sympathize with him. This had to be something very tough for him.
"...however... I cannot return your feelings..."He didn't even wait for her to finish speaking. Rather childishly, he interrupted with "Why?! Why not?! Do you have someone else you love?!!" The inkling wasn't even thinking anymore. His heart had taken over and controlling him completely now.Raising her tone slightly just to get the pup to calm down, she simply growled "Origami!" Within an instant, the inkling had quieted down again.
"It's not that I have someone I am in love with. And, I do love you, but not in the sense you want me to. I raised you, and you are part of my family to me. I think you'd be better off finding someone else closer to your own age to love."His ears fell upon the words offered by the one who stole his heart.
"So that's it, huh? We aren't blood-relations, you know that, right?"She kept her tone even: "I know.""...and you think I'm too young to love you like I do?"
Another pause. He didn't even look at Evening Sky.
Lifting his ears and his face, he put on a smile. "Whatever your reason, it's not going to stop me!" His voice was confident.
"I will find a way to win you over, Evening Sky! Afterall, love isn't something you can just throw away and forget. I know that one day, you'll love me as more than family!"
He bowed his head slightly, then he turned and trotted off, leaving his picture for Evening Sky behind. It was her gift after all. As he left, a few tears began to show, but fortunately, the femme didn't see them."I'm sorry, Origami... you make it sound so simple..."
