I know I just made my thread about Global Warming, but I just thought of this and it's relavent really soon.
Canada is having an, "earth hour" during this earth hour (between 8 and 9 PM) people are encouraged to use as little power as they can. They are encouraged to turn everything off. (For me this is in about an hour.)
Do you think this is a good idea?
I personally think it's a good idea, I don't know how much energy we will save in this one hour. But I think it will open peoples eyes on how much they can actually save by doing little things like this.

It's international. Basically the idea is to turn all your lights off for an hour, from 8pm-9pm local time (so East-coasters should already have started), to make a statement that people do care and do want to do something about global warming and our carbon emissions. I'm doing it in a couple hours. surprised Thank you, WWF, for coming up with this. heart Edit: Go to Google, everyone! They're doing Earth Hour also!

This was such a neat event! I managed to get a couple of my neighbors to participate. I'm excited for next year's!

I just found out about it a few days ago and thought it was a neat idea. I participated. I went to the earthhour website, and they said it made a difference. However they didn't say how much of a difference. I wish they would've. I think it should be more then once a year. One hour out of 365 days a year isn't that much. We all need to do little things to make a difference more offten.

I can't believed I missed it! I was actually at a friend's for a party, but it would have been a cool experience. There's always next year I guess.

You could do the same any other day, really. The event was more for widespread awareness rather than actually saving a whole bunch of carbon dioxide from going into the atmosphere.
