ATTENTION: I received this in a FWD from my art teacher, and I believe he actually researched this enough to determine it was true. It really upset me because I am an artist and to think of someone killing an animal as art. Below is the message I was sent, and although I don't want to say I encourage signing an online petition, my name is on the list as number 3347.
I don't ask anything besides being aware of this, try to not make this man and his actions famous, and to help us never, ever, see this done again. I would be interested to know your exact first reaction.
Art inspires others to feel emotions, it does not force them to. An artist has no right to force others to do anything, for that is not art.

DOG KILLED IN GALLERY AS "ART"
In the year 2007, Guillermo Vargas Habacuc, a supposed artist, took an
abandoned dog, tied him with a small rope to the wall in an art
gallery and left it there so that he could slowly die of hunger and
thirst. He forced an animal to participate in this indignity. During
several days, both the artist as the visitors to the gallery witnessed
the agony of the poor animal, until it finally died, after a painful,
absurd and incomprehensible hell. Photos of this event can be found
at:
http://elperritovive.blogspot.com/That is not all, the prestigious Central American Biennial decided
that the savage act of this man was art, and he has been invited to
repeat his cruel action in such Biennial.
Does this "art" need to be repeated? Please sign the petition against
it: www.petitiononline.com/13031953/
Many believe that this man should not congratulated or called an
"artist."
He starved an animal for his own fame.
Google searches for the artist will produce more information. Here's
