Thinking about it, Sakura didn't truly know all the steps to the kata, only having been demonstrated it fleetingly before. All she had to go by were those memories and the books that she had read, plus any and all basics that the elders had told her to keep in mind. Perhaps sticking to what she knew would be best for now, until she could practice it in earnest some other time. From what she knew, tessenjutsu was only practiced in certain situations like when formal weaponry weren't allowed.
'But then, shinobi are never truly without weapons, are they.' she thought to herself as she thought back to the time when her mother had shown that a simple hair pin could turn into a senbon or a lock pick, only to transform back into a harmless hair pin again in a second.
But she was getting off track again. This 'mushin' that they talked about wasn't as easy as it sounded. Maybe it would have been better as focus if she had been with a partner. But then again, she couldn't exactly bother Shiro and ask him to be her sparring partner for a weapon of which she didn't really know the basics of.

Once she had let her mind wander, it just wasn't able to stop and contain itself enough to be able to concentrate for one moment. Her mind was cluttered and full of ideas, thoughts, flashing images, and the past and the future, but never the present. At times like these, it was better to leave things be until she had let her imagination run dry. She wouldn't have time to do that in the midst of a battle, but she was pretty sure that putting her life on the line would prevent her attention from wandering, like it was now.
Thinking back to what her elders had said, Yuki looked down at the tessen in her hands as a new piece of information came to her. Well, not 'new', really, since she had heard this story quite a few times, but nevertheless a fun piece of food for thought.
There had once been two men fighting each other; one with a sword and another with the tessen. The two had a spectacular fight, and each time the blades clashed, the grounds trembled and the skies split apart from the might of their powers. The battle raged on for days, whether the sun was out or the rain fell down. Eventually, the tessen wielder had won the duel and defeated the swordsman completely.

Sakura personally liked the story quite a bit. Sure, the tessen looked a bit weak and impractical compared to other weapons. And of course she wanted a weapon with a blade. Who didn't, really? It was every shinobi and kunoichi's dream to have a collection of kunai and shuriken at hand, along with perhaps a ninjatō, like all the ANBU. But she liked her tessen, and she was going to show the rest of her classmates just how deadly a weapon it could be later on. Perhaps it would even give her the advantage of being underestimated by the others, giving her a chance to get a surprise attack in.
As the thoughts gently ebbed away into a focus strong enough for her to maintain, Sakura took the chance to maintain that calm and focus on the present, and yet detach herself from the situation and see everything from a different perspective other than her own, picturing herself alone and in a field with no one around except for herself.

There were quite a few things that she had to keep in mind when wielding a tessen and one was the state of mind. But another important thing was posture and form. Without the correct stance, even a well executed and perfectly timed attack could be halved in it's effectiveness, and might as well be the same as handing yourself over to the opponent if you weren't careful enough.
The tessen was a tiresome task; It was supposed to be "performed with a formal posture maintained with dignity throughout the kata; back straight, shoulders back, and knees slightly bent to allow movement the appears smooth and gliding on a single horizontal plane." But as she tried, it wasn't that easy. If she kept her back straight, her shoulders fell back a bit, and when she corrected her knee posture, the upper torso shifted along with it, making her stance hard to maintain.

Inechi Shironaegi  Hp: 45 / 50 Cp: 56 / 75 MHp: 60 / 60 Shiro continued with his practice but he was starting to feel a little tired. Even though he didn't put much force behind any of his swings the sheer length of time in his practice session was starting to get to him. As he continued to swing the weight that his arm was supporting seemed to grow heavier. Eventually he could tell that taking a rest was going to be required by his body, there was simply no other solution available. His arms slackened and he then stuck the two bokken into his belt before letting go of them. After stopping his practice session temporarily, Shiro finally took a moment to look around at his surroundings. It was then that he noticed Sakurayuki, training with some kind of weapon. "Yo... Yuki-chan, what are you doing?" he asked out of curiosity. She certainly had his interest for the time being. Besides maybe talking to her about what he was doing would help himself out with discovering how to perform his own style. At least talking to her would probably be enjoyable at the very least.Name: 二天 "Niten" (Two Heavens)

Although she had a bit of a hard time, with a little practice, she finally found a balance between the requirements. It was a bit uncomfortable to maintain for a long time, but she had a feeling that it would stay with her as long as she kept practicing. Practicing moving around, she tried to glide around smoothly which, having a lack of grace that was with most adults, didn't work out so well. It wasn't true steps either; just trying to get a feel for how to move around in the posture that was required.
She was still practicing when Shiro called her. Yo... Yuki-chan, what are you doing?" Sakura was slightly tired, and his call gave her an excuse to rest for a while.
"Oh this? I'm practicing what little I know of tessenjutsu. It's nothing much since I don't know any real katas yet, but I thought that just getting used to it wouldn't be of any harm." Sakura said, holding out the tessen for him to see. "What about you, what kind of kenjutsu are you practicing?" she asked back, curious as to what he had been doing as well. Dual wielding wasn't an easy thing, and most ANBU only carried around a single ninjatō for that same reason.

Shiro knew it as the time before the village system, when the Uchiha and Senju were constantly at war with each other. "It's kind of hard to understand though, the guy who wrote it said that he intentionally made it obscure. I guess that's why nobody uses the style... they probably can't figure it out." he told her. "Good luck with your training, I bet you'll make more progress than I am, I should probably get back to reading." [+1 to Sakurayuki] Concerning the Fifth Fundamental, In the Fifth Fundamental, you should take a stance with your sword held laterally to your right. As your opponent comes to strike, change the path of your sword from the lower side, raise it to the upper position and immediately cut down from above. This is also for the purpose of knowing the Way of the Sword well. If you get used to wielding the sword with this fundamental stance, you will be able to handle a heavy sword easily.
I have not written in detail about these Five Fundamentals. To know my style in general, to gain a larger understanding of its rhythm and to be able to discern the direction of your opponent's sword, it is essential to first polish these Five Fundamentals daily.

"It's something called Niten... I've been reading about in this old book that my mom gave me... it was written by some guy during the warring clans period." was Shiro's reply as Sakura eyed a thick book that looked just fascinating... not. But if it really was from the warring clans period, then it would mean way back when there wasn't even a village present, and when the Uchiha and Senju had fought fiercely for dominance and power. As interesting as the seemingly ancient swords style was, it still sounded like it would give a person a decent headache. His next words confirmed her thoughts as he told her about the book and the sword style. "It's kind of hard to understand though, the guy who wrote it said that he intentionally made it obscure. I guess that's why nobody uses the style... they probably can't figure it out." Well Sakura would be lying if she said this didn't interest her at all, but the sheer amount of the book and the guesswork that she supposed Shiro would have to do was daunting. 'And seriously, I mean, who the hell writes a book intentionally obscure? Then why write it in the first place??' she thought as she looked at the book with a slightly incredulous look.
"Good luck with your training, I bet you'll make more progress than I am, I should probably get back to reading." he said as he bade her good luck and went on with his book. The idea itself sounded interesting enough. Maybe later she would see if she couldn't convince Shiro to teach the technique to her if he ever completed the kenjutsu. Sakura realized that it was getting late and Shiro was done with his reading and all. It was a good thing too, because now it was getting quite dark and pretty soon, he wouldn't have been able to read anything unless they had a source of light, which neither had. Maybe if she finished fast enough she would be able to go buy some dango as a treat, although that hope was fast fading, along with the sun's quick decent.
Trying to stabilize her mind again and perfect the mushin, she stayed calm, feeling the light breeze and the things around her, then slowly slid back into her stance that she had been perfecting until now. Imagining how she would have to move if the opponent attacked from the side, back, and from above, she twisted around, using the tree as her target. Once she was sufficiently warmed up with the moving and stretching the practice had given her, Sakura decided to try out one of the attacking moves that she had seen her mother try out. This one was pretty simple, which was the only reason her mother had shown it to her, not being an expert herself. However, it gave Yuki something to do, and since perfection was her main goal, she would see to it that she could do the attack perfectly, just like her mother had done.

The proper way to go about this jutsu would be to do all the honorific phases of the ceremonial and dance-like kata, but Sakura shrugged as she skipped the first parts of it. She didn't really need to go over the part where she knelt down, set the tessen down, took it up again, and got on her feet and made the proper first stance. That part, she knew by heart. It wasn't like she had never practiced before, and besides, it wasn't important.
...Ok she took that back. Of course it was important in it's own way, in demonstrating honor and what not, but it wouldn't help her any in a real dual between people. If she wanted to fight fair, she would have become a samurai, not a ninja. Getting in the proper stance, she readied the fan so the bottom faced the tips of her foot, all the while keeping her back straight and shoulders relaxed and in position.

Now slowly, like a flowing river, she dipped downwards with her right hand, the one holding the fan, while whirling around and attempting a kick. Although the fan itself wasn't that heavy, the slight momentum it gave was enough to put more force behind her kick than usual. She tried it again, with some variations. This time, Sakura pulled in her right hand towards herself, and steadied herself with her left. The kick was modified so it would aim for the neck and the head more than the torso itself. Eventually she found that although the former was easier to do, the latter seemed more efficient, and she felt the familiar strains that she had felt when practicing at the dojo with the elders. If that was the case, then she had to be doing something right. Going over the same movement slowly without the momentum to help the movements, she slowly guided herself through the steps and kick. She did this for the other movements as well, a sharp snap of the tessen that would hit the opponent's side, and then a swipe to the back. She made sure to perfect each move, soon losing herself in the techniques. Every movement went through the same arc and path, and when she faltered, Yuki tried it again and again relentlessly. After a while though, her legs started to tremble, betraying her tiring body. Putting a hand on a nearby tree, her head bowed down, she breathed heavily. Doing it without any momentum to help had slowed her down and forced her to use muscles that normally wouldn't have been used.
She felt tired enough to drop down, but she was proud of being able to train like this alone. Of course she would always require guidance, but it gave her a certain glow of happiness to know that she could do something on her own now. It was what gave her the will to keep going, and press onwards, even if she taxed herself to the limit.

Although her body was complaining about the abnormal amount of activity that it was being exposed to, Sakurayuki ignored the strains as she gracefully wove through the katas that she had been practicing earlier. This time, with the added momentum that she had allowed herself, the full swing of her legs and arms gave her a quicker turn and helped her regain posture again without too much faltering. It felt much more stable to have a weapon in her hand, especially when it had a blade. With a final diagonal slash, she hit the trunk of a nearby tree, embedding the tessen in the hard wood. Alarmed that the swipe had actually done something other than bounce back off the trunk, she hurriedly examined the state of the fan. When she pulled it out after some tugging, the attack left a long, thin cut in the bark, but the steel itself was unharmed.
Marveling at the sheer strength of the steel, and on the other hand shocked at the attack's strength, she tucked the tessen on the left side of her sash hidden beneath the layers of the dress, where it could easily be pulled out again. Sakura made sure to always keep in mind that while the tessen was mostly known for defensive purposes, it was by all means an offensive weapon as well; deadly as a katana could ever be.
Now regaining her senses, she looked around the quickly darkening surroundings and scratched her head. It looked like time had passed quite quickly for her. She might have overstayed her welcome at the training grounds; cerfew was quickly approaching and she needed to get home before okka-san did and prepare something to eat. Sakura would bet all her dango money that she had taken another solder pill to finish her shifts at the hospital again, and the least she could do was to prepare a simple miso soup and rice for her.

The boy was quite pleased with himself, as today had been quite profitable. Despite being eligible to graduate he continued to learn and grow. By the time the others were able to graduate he'd have learned quite a few extra tricks that would guarantee him a spot on a good squad. With a smile on his face Shiro started walking for home, since it was so late the boy was quite sure that he was going to get stopped by a jounin. It was sure to be a pain, but he had special permission since he lived outside of the village. Still he'd best be on his way, wouldn't want to be too late and sleep in tomorrow after all. With that in mind the boy headed for his home village at a brisk pace, the cooler night air keeping him from getting too hot. [Exit to Inechi Farming Village]

Seeing that Shiro had finished up his work and packed up to head home, Sakura decided to follow suit. Taking what she had on her, Sakura started to head home in the general direction of her home. Perhaps she could go by the dango shop.... but then, she had no dango money on her at the moment. Okka-san had forgotten to give her any for this week, but she couldn't blame her. Oh well. Maybe she could convince her mother to teach her the minor chakra heal in exchange since now she could use chakra. If okka-san was awake enough to do anything other than bid her good night, that was.
Taking one last look over at the training fields, Sakura turned back and headed towards the silent dark of the night until she could be seen no more.
