i want to join the navy at 21 years old i dont really know much about it is there any information necessary for it like what grades i should be having, any information is needed thanks.

Be prepared physically and mentally. Take the ASVAB (I think that's what it's called.) seriously. Know what job you want when you go in to sign up. Work hard and good luck in Great Lakes.

type in a google query 'navy ratings' and look up the jobs, ask about what bonuses they can give you, I got $2,000 bonus for 19 college credit hours, and with 22 or 24 credit hours you can get E-2 (seaman apprentice). I went through boot camp up at great lakes september to november, we marched everywhere, did lots of physical exercise, and learned that you do not say anything to the chaplains. any specific questions? what type of job were you looking to get into?

You can get in as high as an E3 if you have enough college credits, as well as an EBCC, Enlistment Bonus for College Completed (or something like that) where you receive an additional bonus for how many credits of college you have; about $5,000 for an AA degree, about $8,000 for a BA.

Also, do your best to avoid minor things like traffic infringements, as they CAN affect what jobs you get.

In all honesty, do your research! Recruiters don't like to waste their time with kids who going to second guess their decisions like me for example. I wanted to be a Master at Arms but my eyes were a little bit off. so I was booted out of that job. So I choose HM instead. Because in my mind If I couldn't be a cop, I was going to be a crazy combat dude. Well, after about a half year and a few EMT classes later. I decided that's not what I really wanted to do in life or in the Navy. I have been fighting MEPS since I joined. Be Smart...pick something you know you'll enjoy doing just about every other day. I say that because most people don't go into work everybody happy.

Also get everything in written. IF isn't in the contract then it doesn't exist no matter what the recruiter says.

for grades the higher is better ofcourse....but u should have atleast a 2.0 GPA. more info can be found at Military.com and ur local recurter. oh and before u take the ASVAB go to ur local or county libary and get the ASVAB study book. it helps!! when i took my pratice test i got a 36 than i studied the book and i got a 59.

THE TEST ISNT AS HARD AS YOU THINK. oh and the Navy test has 11 sections in the test...unlike the other branches much have 10....but dont worry about the 11th section it is just matching 5 to 6 digit numbers that belong to words. for example:

cat 567890 dog 123050 tree 235894

cat 123050 567890 235894
dog 235894 567890 123050
tree 567890 235894 123050

u got to do about 80 of those, with more numbers and words, as fast as u can.

I took the asvab my 11th grade year just to take it I made a 78 I believe. No studying just took it. I am E-3 Because I reached Eagle scout. Umm, THe only grades you need bud are the Asvab because you need certain line scores to get jobs.
