Mistress Kaia Well everytime I walk into Slackers or EB Games I'm always the only girl in there. I get stared at and then once I pick up a game I like and Buy it I get all these whispers and strange stares.... Guys are just stupid. xp I even have a shirt that says "if a game has bouncy boobs then a girl has already played it. " Only place I ever see another girl in a game store is at Gunther's Games. xp yea when i got to Gamestop, Fairgames, or Eb Games. im the only chick in there. but one time i actually saw a chick working at GS and me and her had a chat about KH. it was nice knowing i wasnt the only girl gamer in town since almost all the other chicks hate them

such a problematic stereotype... the only way to make them shut up is to kick their a** at a video game, which usually happens...

I don't care what most people think, they can go drown themselves for thinking so sexist. I play videogames as I please and currently I am waiting for five games to come out. One is Super Smash Bros Brawl (hell yeah!!! twisted ) because who doesn't love endless violence of attacking a virtual character and beating them to an inch of their virtual life?
Doesn't matter--I do!

feiry_fawna BE Video games aren't geared towards guys as much as the gaming magazines are. There's the execeptions of The Guy Game etc.. It's the gaming magazines that make it more and more male-oriented. The female gamer population is larger than you think. We're generally pretending to be men on multiplayer games, because you don't want to see "A/S/L??" flying across the screen when you're trying to knife some newb on Dust. Xbox live also presents problems, when girls play. Whenever I throughly kick a guy's a** it's: "Oh, well I was going easy on you 'cause you're a girl" "Haha, you got your a** kicked by a girl, you suck." "Girls suck at games. You just got lucky." "You're not really a girl." Why is this? Girl gamers aren't rare. Girls are as good at games as guys. But because of the immaturity of guys, we sort of don't make our presence known - and if we don't, then the gaming industry will never know we're out there, and never cater to us. Cosmo doesn't feature stories about videogames, because Cosmo is all about the following things: How to please a guy in bed How to look hot Your horoscope about how you look hot while pleasing a guy in bed Gaming magazines don't feature stories about gamer girls, because the magazine is about the following things: Pixellated hot mostly naked girls How you're a loser because you play games and can't date You can't date because of featured pixellated girls It's stereotypes setting the genders up for disaster - and it's annoying. I think you have a VERY good point , the gaming magazines are boy based , but we girls are not completely ignored , there are some sections with gaming girls opinions and views and stories , but seeing all the naky made up game girls and models to advertise games is abit much .
Guys will always act imature when they loose to a girl , because we are assumed as weak (even though there is a strongest wimen competition in the world...-flexes a muscle- blaugh ) , when we beat a guy at a game , its like a major blow to his pride , kinda funny too because then they dont have the go to show off next time knowing you could do better wink .
But there are those nice/cool guys out there that will be all "wow your hot" if you beat them , and luv you to death heart a guy didn't dare to play videogames with me because he was afraid he'd lose sweatdrop but anyway, these stereotypes are annoying sweatdrop

This stereotype has reared it's ugly head once again.
I just got this shirt:

However, it was only available in a male cut. (I got stuck with a large too, it was the last one left) The shirts that WERE cut in the babydoll style and had gamer stuff on them, were peverse. For instance: A classic Yoshi pose, tongue extended. What else is on the shirt? The words "Use your tongue." Disgusting. That's for children with no self respect.
Why can't all gamer shirts come in male AND female cuts?

I've been playing video games for years. It's not something that I could give up easily. People can believe what they want, but if my brother invites his friends over to play multiplayer Halo, I'm gonna join in. smile

your first statement is false. not everyone thinks games aren't for girls.
but the reason people do tend to think that not a lot of girls play video games is because not a lot of girls play games. a lot of girls choose not to play them because they're not into them. that's why there's not a lot of girl gamers. simple as that.
if the girl population decided that they wanted to be gamers, and just as many girls played games as guys did, than that stereotype would be gone.

Girl gamers ARE rare, and just because you're in a guild full of them doesnt mean they're not. The guy gamer to girl gamer ratio is still WAY unbalanced.
I dont know any other girls that are as into games as I am, although a few still own consoles and play them every once and awhile.
And come on...guys have nothing that seperates them from women anymore. Girls can be better gamers (and often are), mechanics, athletes, doctors, lawyers, whatever. We even have strap-ons now.
They have to at least PRETEND they can still beat us out in something. rolleyes

I don't think the game designers really give a damn as long as they make some money off us xp I think gender has very little to do with one's performance in a video game.

Profaci Video Games are made for whomever wishes to use them What he says.
And I played Neopets for like, the last 3 years and quit because they froze me for entirely nothing. So screw Neopets.
