*pokes fawN*
where's that soup recipe then??? blaugh

Oh, I have to decipher my scribbles and sidenotes and see if I can come up with a legible recipe! My mom doesn't measure anything, she guesstimates, so I'll have to guesstimate too. A lot of it is 'to taste' which will turn out different for everybody!

actually Baking is a precise science that needs to be followed to the letter if you want success. I learned that on Alton Brown (on FoodTV) Cooking is more just melding flavors together. Altho there is a bit of science in cooking, it's not as rigid as baking.

Aha!! That's why I don't bake! I guess I cook! I've only ever baked ONE cake once, for Jade's birthday, and it didn't turn out as high as I'd hoped, but it was yummy!

oh yes, an extra egg is always a good trick!

It's not usually sweet.. also called popovers, my mom would make them every sunday with a roast and potatoes, and we'd poke a hole in the top of each yorkshire pudding and pour gravy in. *drooools* My FAVORITE!!!

But, my mom sometimes used the yorkshire pudding recipe to make creampuffs for me to take to school a couple times.

i was thinking it would be either Lizzie or fawN who knew what they were 3nodding
Traditionally they're served with roast beef, but most people like them with any roast!

we use the yorkshire pudding batter for Toad in the hole too, cute name, but it's just sausages cooked within the batter, a bit of true British comfort food, especially with loads of gravy 3nodding

Okay, then I am totally confused. I always think of a cute story when I hear about "Pudding" as it pertains to the UK, and that was about a lady who was vacationing there, and when she ate out, they would always come around to the table and offer her pudding at the end of the meal. She was not really fond of pudding as we Americans know it, so she always declined... then at the very end of her trip, she found out they use that term for dessert... like I said, I am lost, now rolleyes

I think it's one of those words that can mean multiple things, even within the same culture.

Like.. our banana bread isn't really bread. It's more like cake! Well, I suppose it could be considered bread too... bad example.

Yorkshire Pudding doesn't mean the same as Pudding, just as... uh, I can't think of another example! confused

I suppose Yorkshire Pudding is more pudding-like when it's in batter form.

lol, the joys of language!
i used to make banana bread a lot, it was yummy!
i have a recipe book called The world in your kitchen, it's a vegetarian one, it was published about 10 years ago by The New Internationalist magazine which i used to subscribe too.
Anyway all the recipes are from Africa, Asia south America or the Middle East. My banana bread recipe is from Cameroon and i loved it. I'm not going to start making it again though, i'm trying to lose weight not gain it by filling my face with cake all the time ninja
