Well, I have to admit, I feel a bit conflicted about all this. I've known for a while that the plot, etc. were taking a backseat to the BS and *shudder* sponsorships. But I never thought that the BS would be the champion of the plot once it was finished. Reading about how we'll get to relive the glory days through it makes me feel.... excited. Something I've never felt for the BS.
So, the bottom line is that it's taking away from what we love about the site, and making us have invasive sponsorships, but once it's finished, it will have the plot we love, minus the sponsorships.
Well, I don't feel conflicted, after all. I'm still against invasive sponsorships like the MTV shop, and I'll still tolerate the other kinds they've been doing, if we get something cool in the end. It's a matter of determining what's worth what. Sponsorships like the MTV shop aren't worth putting up with, no matter what the return.
So perhaps they'll get the message from the thousands of people that want to kill them over it and stick to other forms of advertisements, and we'll still get the bs eventually.

Nite Lewis kyle772 (No I didn't read the WHOLE post but I read some of it) I totally agree with you guys, Gaia has gone to far! I wish it was like how it was in the old days (04-06). Those were the good old days no stupid sponsors or quests. The advertising was fine, because thats what websites have to do, but the sponsors went to far. evil Gaia needs to learn that this site was originally made for the forums and that is what makes it good. I thought the best thing they did was add the guilds to the site but now you can't load a page where a stupid sponsor/quest pops up somewhere! I just wish gaia could go back to its original ways before the quests started. Lets just hope that they are only getting this money for the battle system, and not for keepsakes because I swear if they still have these kind of sponsors AFTER the battle system ends I'm quiting. (the site not the Battle System I have waited to long! xD)
Well, I made this thread to see if you guys had any ideas about what we could do to make Gaia a better place for us again, because we can't just complain all the time - it's bad for the soul!
I don't know if you've been reading the Ask the Admin's threads, but it seems like in the next years it'll be easier for the users to create new contents for the site and all that. I hope that doesn't turn into another myth ._.Actually, I read from the CEO dude that he doesn't want to go in the direction of user-created content like second life, etc.

Burning Crimson While I don't like what Gaia's becoming, I don't see a change back to what it was...
But remember, in 04 and 05, we were bombarded with Glitches. And I literally mean bombarded.

I read that too (and I'm glad, because I don't like Second Life), but Lanzer keeps mentioning that they're trying to come up with methods for the users to contribute to the site.

Uh... that is, now that I know a bit more about the monetary difficulties Gaia is facing... well, I was trying to cut down on the amount of money I've been spending online, but I think I'll continue donating to Gaia. I had no idea that they were spending more that they're earning, I was under the impression that they were making a nice profit.
And I don't feel so bad about the MTV crap and the other bad sponsorship deals. As long as they continue with the plot and the events - and once again I can't wait until the BS comes out! - I'll be willing to accept most of the controversial deals they have to make to get money.
