Lightning rounded another corner, and there was the home stretch. His father was waiting outside the ceremony room, tapping his foot impatiently, his arms crossed over his chest. As the youth skidded to a stop his father grabbed his shoulders to stop him and keep him from falling.
"How is it that the fastest person on this ship is always late to everything?" the older Immortal asked, looking down at his son disapprovingly.
"I'm sorry," Lightning said, panting softly after his run. "I ran into someone. I had to help him clean up all the papers I made him drop." Alright, so it was only half truth, but his father didn't need to know that he would have been late anyway.
The older Immortal sighed and fixed his son's appearance quickly. "You need to be more careful. People won't always wait for you."
Lightning looked down in shame. Nothing he ever did was good enough for his father, but he was used to that by now. Once his flyaway hair had been fixed and he was made to stand up straight, his father opened the door and pushed him inside.

the Angel headed off tofind te main entrence to the hall. he knew the general direction, but connsidering he was always cooped up in the library he didn't know his way around as well as he should have.
"mm.. where is it... where is it...." he said softly, making a slight face, having difficaulties finding the way in other than where lightning had entered, since that probably lead to a diferent part of the hall."i hate not knowing where i'm going...." he murmured.

Ravynn had moved to another part of the ship by now, hurrying to get another beaker. The beake he was after contained some uncontaminated angel feathers. To do the correct experiment, he'd need a good sample. He'd need one of the pure feathers, and then a part feather. He happened to pass by the angel speaking to himself. "What do you need to find, friend?"

The room that Lightning had be so unceremoniously shoved into by his father was a small room the connected to the larger ceremonial chamber next door. Within was his mother and one of the Elders. They both also looked disapproving, and he quailed a little under their harsh stares.
"I can't believe you're late," his mother commented, "This is the most important day of your life."
Lightning could only mumble apologies while she began to pull his long hair back into the traditional knots and braids that would make sure it all stayed off of his chest until the tattoo was done.

"I'm not sure if any one is allowed in to watch... but that is a great notion. I could use some time to consider my possibilities anyhow. Follow me, it's not all that hard to find," he said, motioning the angel to follow him. He only knew about it because he passed it from his chemistry lab to his personal library every day.

"yes, it's what i'd rather like to find out" he nodded a bit, his wings ruffling slightly at the pressence of someone new, as he was obviousl not used to having peopel around him. he looked about, seeming almost confused"how do you tell here things are when there's nothing to mark your way? everything looks the same..." he made a slight face."at least to me. all the hallways and things... it all looks the same..." he sighed a bit"i doubt i'll ever be able to find my way around here..."

"I can make you a digital map if you'd like. But to know where you are now, there are markings on panals before each door." He motioned to one they were passing. "You type in what you are looking for, in any language you please, and it will state where you are, and how to get to the room you want.... Ah, here we are," he said as they walked up to the ceremony door.

The ceremony was just started when the two arrived at the entrance to the hall. At this point no one would probably notice if they slipped in the back and stayed quiet.
Lightning himself was practically shaking with the force of his nerves. But despite it all he came out onto the platform and stood patiently, holding back any outward signs of his pain as the elder began the arduous process of forcing the ink into his skin.

Ravynn led the way in, grabbing the other man's wrist lightly. He stood in the back, not wanting to disturb the procession any.

"Nyx, just one more test and then you can go."
The crossbreed tilted his head at the man speaking to him. One of the two slim braids of white hair slid over one shoulder as he did and wide golden eyes stared at the scientists around him. Various wires were attached to his body as the people around him tested his muscle reactions, his neural function, and a bunch of other stuff that he didn't know or remember much about. He was used to have the wires and going through the testing at least once a month. Even his tail had wires attached to it.
Nyx wasn't really paying attention. The tests were tests were tests. He just sat there and did as he was told until it was over. The wires were removed soon enough and the scientists let him go. He wandered down a hall, smoothing out the short black dress he was wearing. Odd, yes, but Nyx was the only crossbreed to have been unintentionally been born in vitro. Who knows how his mind had developed? The tests didn't show anything abnormal and the others that took care of Nyx didn't say much about his clothing choices or his appearance. The long hair and tendency to dress in female clothes made him look like a girl however.
One black-furred ear twitched at the sound of voices and then, around a corner, the crossbreed saw a man he saw from time to time--whenever he was around the labs--and another that had the largest wings he'd ever seen--many of the angels Nyx knew didn't have wings like that. He looked up and down the hallway. Seeing no one else, he shrugged and followed the two men into the room that they disappeared into. He slipped in right behind them. He was small enough to fit between them and the back wall, and there really was nothing better to do.
