Sailorcancer2004 Canis Lupus the LoneWolf Si-Shen Sailorcancer2004 Well GDC is coming up... I think the 40GB model had to come out. When it came out PS3 sales really started to go up a lot, mostly because of price. As far as Ken and Kaz goes, I think Ken is more like it's my way etc. Which I think really got into conflict with Sony. It's no mystery that the cost to make a PS3 is extremely high. What I think happened was Ken and the heads at Sony started butting head about the PS3, and then Ken just kinda left. When Kaz came, the heads at Sony most likely pressured him to lower PS3 making costs, and most of his time is spent "fixing" what Ken did. I can see another model come out and over take one of the existing models, most likely the 40 GB. I think the 40GB model was really just out to get the PS3 into more homes etc. Id have to agree with you, and that makes me want to ask one question, was the software emulation just part of the program on the HDD? if so, doesnt that mean that at ANY point, they could put out and update taht returned it to the 40 gig models? Im asking because I dont know for sure, as Im not sure where the software was placed. If and when the silver comes here, i wonder if it will be a new model with BC in it. The 80GB PS3 wasn't exactly software-emulation. It still had a PS2 GPU. As for where the emulator is at...my guess would be installed on the flash, not the HD. I think it would be on the HDD, isn't that how the 360 does it? But it would have to depend, where is the emulation for the EE stored? The 360 probably has it on the flash also...otherwise, every time you formatted your hard drive, you would have to install the emulator again. The flash is basically where how the system run and what makes it a PS3 is stored. All the important files...they wouldn't put it on an HDD because then you'd be able access those kind of files a lot more easily. I'm not too sure about the EE. It's probably on the flash too, but really it's probably PS2 BIOS edited to be integrated with the PS3 system and upscale...all of it is pretty much hardware emulation, the EEC and PS2 GPU do all the work.

I'm pretty sure the 360 is hard drive. In the FAQ for BC at Xbox.com it says: Quote: Q: What is Xbox backward compatibility? A: Xbox® backward compatibility enables original Xbox® games on the compatibility list to be played on your Xbox 360™ console. Backward compatibility requires the Xbox 360 Hard Drive. If it was saving the stuff to a seperate chip, I don't know why you would need a hard drive for it.

That isn't saying the only way to do it is from the hard drive...probably just saying that the 360 doesn't have enough flash memory. I'm just comparing it to the PSP, you don't need a memory stick to have the Official PS1 emulator by Sony on your PSP. They install it directly to the flash. All the important system files are installed on the flash usually with Sony, I don't see why Sony would do it any differently.

He might be right, the PSP uses internal flash for its OS, and as I recall, if you pull out your HDD on the PS3, and pop in a new one, you just format it and its up to the same as it was on the old HDD.
