he blinked a bit, smiling gently and moving a bit closer, kneeling in front of him and taking it gently"thank you, you're kind" he said sweetly, taking a small bite out of the fish and then crossing his legs carefuly.

Nine snuffed and kept his eyes on the fire. He didn't know what he ought to feel from being thanked by a human. None of his pack had ever thanked him before. It had always been expected that they shared everything. So the wolf only nodded and didn't look at the strange human.

He glanced over to the water after a moment"where did you come from?" he asked"you washed up on shore... and you were hurt. what happened?" he looked back at him after a few moments of staring at the water as if it would tell him, his eyes slipping back to the inhuman before him, a concerned look on his face now.

The wolf blinked and turned his eyes to the human. His ears twitched as he considered the question and the concerned look on its face. Did it bother the human that much, his wound? Nine looked back at the fire. "Does it really matter to you where I came from? What happened to me?" He still felt very distrustful of the human. They hadn't been the kindest people to him.

he nodded swiftly"yes, it does!" he said gently"it bothers me that someone hurt you... i don't understand how people can do that.." he sighed a little bit"you're an inhuman, and you're a wolf, right? there's noway a wolf would dtray from his pack unless something happened. please tell me" he lifted his legs to his chest ad frowned, watching him.

Nine blinked a few times, surprised at the other's words. The human thought it was important? Hm. "Even if was a human that did this?" He motioned to his wound. The human had asked about his pack too. His tail twitched and he turned to the fire. "All of my pack are dead. My brothers, my sisters, the pups... All of them. I'm all that's left of it." He huffed a little, clearly not wanting to talk about it.

he frowned softly"i thought it might have been done by human hands... most of us are horrible creatures now, and we were before all of this started, too..." he said softly, looking up at him and letting out a soft whimper upon hearing of his pack"did... humans do that, too?" he asked softly, hugging his knees tight to his chest, the jewlery clinking gently against itself.

He nodded. "I was not there when it began, so I don't know what started it. When I arrived there, the humans from the nearby town had already slain most of them. My blood-brother was the last one standing. All I could do was watch when they brought him down." His eyes glazed over as he remembered the way Alpha stood against the humans, looking angry and exhausted. "Yes, humans did it... I'd rather we not speak anymore about this."

he whimpered softly, looking quite upset by this, slowly nodding when he requested to not talk about it any more, "i'm sorry.... i didn't mean to pry into painful memories..." the boy said softly, biting at his finger.

The wolf shrugged. "It's fine..." He didn't look bothered by remembering it--with the pack, the only thing that mattered was the moment. Nine just looked a little...lost. This was the first time he didn't have the others of the pack to depend on. The first time he didn't have his blood-brother. And...he missed it.

"it was good, though... that you had a family for awhile" he smiled sweetly"one that loved you. i don't wanna make this all depressing, but i'm just glad. you deserve people who care about you. and who knows, maybe you'll end up starting your own pack someday?" he said simply, shruging slightly, trying to be positive again.

Nine shrugged, his expression turning detached once more. "Perhaps I could. But I doubt there will be any wolves left when I return. The humans did not spare even the cubs of my pack." That was, in part, true, but it was more that he didn't think he could start his own pack. He wasn't like Alpha, he didn't have that kind of desire to dominate and lead as his blood-brother had, as the others of his pack had. Was that strange?
