It's often said this world a dark and cruel place. On top of what we see on the news, we also see how people have let themselves becomes selfish, greedy and miserable, wondering why they can never be happy. Personally, I think it's a difficult thing to remember this world still holds kindness, yet at the same time, displays of genuine kindness and selflessness, no matter how little, can shed some light and bring some much needed joy into the lives of those around.

A smaller scale example of this would take place whenever I visit places that have tip jars. I was making my rounds around town when I saw a Cold Stone Creamery in the way home. Being in the mood for a Cookies & Cream shake, I stopped in to purchase one. After it was made and the shake was paid for, I decided to drop my change and 2 dollars into the jar. At that particular place a tip prompts a brief breaking into song and some accompaniment, and after I left I think some of the other people that came in after were also prompted to tip. Whether it was out of kindness or social pressure I am unsure, but I do know that kindness is always infectious and finds a way to brighten even the darkest days. Would you not agree, brothers and sisters?

It's my favourite flavour as well... ninja ..Seriously.

I need a new flavour.. It's too popular! scream

So... anyway... definitely.

Generosity definitely sprouts more generosity. I suppose it's because by giving you manage to tap into that part of you that's like God's own desire to love by giving. Trust me, it's not really 'human' to want to give (unselfishly). It's a part of that God-like character to give from your heart and expect nothing in return. When giving is done otherwise, it's generally to gain attention, to make ourselves feel better or to over-ride guilt.

One thing that's good though, if you DO decide to give... the receiver is almost always happy to receive (unless you had bad intentions and they saw right through you), and that does prompt the givee to be a giver. Kindness is infectious.

Indeed. I was making my rounds last night when a question came to mind concerning kindness. Let's say you're waiting in line for some ice cream, when you see someone ahead of you order a shake. As you wonder what kind of treat you wish to get you see the person ahead grab their shake and leave something in the nearby tip jar as they put on their headphones. You hear the distinct c***k of change being dropped, but in there you also see the person drop a $10 bill, when the shake itself was no more than $5. What are your initial thoughts?

On top of what we see on the news...

Try looking for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.

My initial thought is a smile and it would provoke me to do the same or similar. It's inspiring to see persons do/give over. It is a sign that the gentle, still, small Voice is whispering to some heart.
