Their OP and ED are usually pretty decent. Usually, they'll come from non-anime bands and artists, but it's not bad. I still prefer those who traditionally stick to anime stuff, like JAM Project who only does games and anime songs. Their only other stuff is just filler tracks and B-sides.

I was always wondering if the artists who make songs for anime only do anime or other solo songs too. surprised I love Bleach's music, though.

That depends on the artist. Some of them also release their own solo projects. Others are artists commissioned by the studio to write an opening/ending, like L'arc en Ciel, they're a j-rock band who did a couple of endings for Rurouni Kenshin. Others, like Aya Hinano, are also voice actors.
