I'm familiar with the "somethingすきです。" to say "I like something". However, I remember once seeing "すきなsomething" and was wondering if someone here could explain that usage to me. Is すき actually a な adjective?

It's a な adjectival. It behaves the same way as other な adjectives.

すきなsomething = a lovely something
sukina is the adjective made from suki.
this counts for all words like okii (large) chiisai (small) and so on. that tells what something looks like.

Cerinety Vegete somethingすきです = i like/love something (i think loving something comes closer to suki) すきなsomething = a lovely something sukina is the adjective made from suki. this counts for all words like okii (large) chiisai (small) and so on. that tells what something looks like. except that 大きい and 小さい are generally い adjectives... Although it is possible to add な and drop い but I think that is a different grammatical function. It probably doesn't change its meaning... I am yet to learn about いadjectives and adding な to them. So I'm going to shut up now before I say something to embarrass myself.

Is すき actually a な adjective? Hmm I think when joining nouns with な adjectives, な would be used to connect the two. But な can also function like a particle sometimes. Given the information you've said its probably safe to say that it was joining a noun with an adjective. As for its grammatical function I'm not too sure of that. You'll probably have to ask your 先生。

but to use it really easily u could think of it as _____ ga suki desu. ANd fill in the blank with what u like. personally Ichigo ga suki desu. but thats just me. U can insert fruits colors ppl and just about anything. I can understand how u can be confused becasue its such a versitile word but once u get used to it its really easy!

すき、can be a な adjective, only if you are going to use it to describe something. For example, ぼくのすきなバンドはハーツグロウ。*my "favorite" band is hearts grow. you can also use suki to say that you like something. For example, お好み焼きがすきです。*I like okonomiyaki*. Quote, the particle "ga-が" has to go before すき, because ga emphasizes the subject. Any questions? Just PM me. ookini!!"arigatou"

well when you say u like something u say "ga suki desu"
for example, i like sushi
watashi sushi ga suki desu
or simply
sushi ga suki desu.
if u say u love something u say "ga daisuki desu"
i love sushi:
watashi sushi daisuki desu.
or sushi ga daisuki desu
srry i didnt write it in japanese.
i dont kno how to do it in my computer.

xLolitaPandax well when you say u like something u say "ga suki desu" for example, i like sushi watashi sushi ga suki desu or simply sushi ga suki desu. if u say u love something u say "ga daisuki desu" i love sushi: watashi sushi daisuki desu. or sushi ga daisuki desu srry i didnt write it in japanese. i dont kno how to do it in my computer. just to let you know, in Japanese, The subject can be omitted. So in your sentence, Watashi sushi ga suki desu, Watashi can be omitted.

  Just to add, because I don't see it, you can say '__ ga suki na __ desu'.
It's how you say "I/he/she am/is a ___ who likes ___"
Such as,
ヴィジュアル系が好きな女の子です。
Vijuaru-kei ga suki na onna no ko desu.
I am a girl who likes visual kei.
彼は猫を飼うのが好きな男の子です。
Kare wa neko wo kau no ga suki na otoko no ko desu.
He is a boy who likes to raise cats.
