I would definitely say X's,, I liked how you could CHOOSE what you wanted to level up to,, to an extent,, but you still had to work at it. It was very fun and challenging. razz

FFX's sphere grid definetly allows for a more broadened character. you could (if you have the time) allow every character to learn everything on the grid, thereby making them all crazy powerful. and once you learn something, you keep it, it's much more effective than VII and VIII in that regard, where you need the materia/GF to have that ability. However, everyone in X remains slightly unique in their overdrives and special abilities. (aka. only Yuna can use aeons, etc.)
by far my fav.

The Sphere Grid system was really good in FFX--I really liked using it! All characters have the chance of learning all the abilites--which is good because if one character faints and he/she has a certain ability that really helped during the battle, another character with the same could fill in for the fainted one till he/she gets revived.
[OKAY THAT WAS CONFUSING! o___o...or it sounded confusing.] sweatdrop
I also liked the FFVIII system--it was pretty easy to use in my opinion 3nodding it's not as good as FFX's though. Everyone who was equipped with a GF could have the GF take damage for them while their being summoned--in that waiting process...o_O; [dangit I can't explain things crying ]
But then again... biggrin all the systems in VII, VIII, X, X-2 [<~the games I played so far] were pretty good
But yeah, there's my little opinion 3nodding

I would have to say either FFX or FFT the because the most customization is in those two.
Why yes i am using to excaliburs to kill you.
Why yes my yuna can do more damage than auron when attacking and auron does have the highest magical abilities

I thought VII's was the best, because it was just old fashioned leveling up. I think part of my decision stems from the fact that Final Fantasy VII introduced me to role playing games, but still. That's my choice.

I really can't believe all the votes for X... i appreciate being able to customize your characters and all, but come on. the only real difference in the characters (if you took the time) would have been a slight stat difference, their weapons, and their overdrives. Sure, only Yuna can summon, and Wakka is still the true longe range guy but... come on!
I just don't get it... it seems so sad to me that your characters would be basically the same person except they look and attack a bit differently. You could do the same thing with next to all of them but X really took the cake on it...
(small side note: i still probably should have bought X-2... but it was Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. I've been waiting ages for it o.O... there was no way i was passing it up...)
Oh, and btw: 7 was totally not the first basic leveling up in FF series... but, as it was probably the most 'popular' FF out there... i can't blame you...
or can i?

I liked Final Fantasy X's Sphere Grid the most. It was alot easier to see and control what your character was going to learn.

i liked the system of ffIX because it was simple, but i loved the sphere grid from X, cuz you could learn every ability of every character. so in escence you could use the characters you liked, while still using all the useful abilities.

Yeah, that was another good thing about the Sphere Grid. It made it so you didn't have to keep switching characters in and out of your party during a fight.
