See, I think it's 'cause a) they're misinformed and b) they don't realise how much worse it would be if it WERE illegal.

Also, my boyfriend is an only child. He has no siblings because his parents divorced when he was eight, and his mum had to have a hysterectomy before then. THERE ARE MANY REASONS FOR ONLY CHILDREN THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH ABORTION, YOU STUPID IDIOT.

"Where are your siblings?"

Oh, I'm sorry, was your friend's mom supposed to pop out more than one baby?

That little gem actually reminded me of the Quiverfull movement *shudder*
It does rather suggest that contraception is depriving her friends of those much-needed siblings - I mean, how the hell would it even be an argument against abortion? Does she know all of her friend's mother's intimate lives that well that she knows they all had multiple abortions, thus depriving them of their siblings? The lack of siblings would logically be due to contraception and family planning, not necessarily abortions. Ugh. Dimwitted Claire.

Or GASP infertility caused by giving birth. Or the fathers are infertile but oh, that never happens. -.-

Quiverfull give me nightmares. T____T

I just looked them up, damn that website is weird. And their whole thing on birth control? Yeah, bullshit.

Ann from Feministing has a reassuring message in her new post, Survivors of anti-choice indoctrination.

The way Claire sees it, they're missing out on much joy -- and she blames abortion.

"I look at my friends," she said, "and I wonder, 'Where are your siblings?' "
Does she expect every family to have kids and lots of them?

Should I feel proud that I'm 14 (part of said generation of very sad, brainwashed people) and can think for myself?

For Christ on the cross's sake, they're putting people in groups and brainwashing them into thinking what they want them to think. This makes me so ANGRY! gonk I want to go start a club at my school for pro-choice kids now...

Only if there's already a blatant pro-life club. Otherwise, you'll get backlash.

If there's a subtle pro-life club (supports conservative causes and actively opposes abortion) then make a subtle pro-choice club. Make it about reproductive freedom, women's rights, human rights or civil liberties in general.

I've actually been wanting to start a club for liberal views for a while. >w<;;

Ugh.

I think the most obnoxious part is where they act like they're on some sort of holy righteous mission to save babies. I know a lot of older lifers think like that, but they don't rub it in your face the way these teenagers do. Hell, I know a few people at my school who are pro-life and they're nowhere near as immature as these people are.

I'm just glad everyone in my election class supports abortion rights. Makes it easier to have discussions about abortion and how it was the main issue that got the Moral Majority started.

The funny thing is, I bet you that a lot of those kids would choose abortion if they ended up pregnant or if their GF did. My generation can't comprehend what it is like to not want to be pregnant or the ability to be compassionate towards women.

That's true. I think on one hand we have birth control, and a lot of people seem to think if you use birth control you'll be fine, and then when someone gets pregnant it's assumed she didn't use birth control.

Then there are the kids who find out about abortion at an age where they're not interested in sex, or still think it's "icky." Then there are high school kids who assume all sex is casual sex, especially if they've never actually been in love.

I can relate to that. I've been in love and in committed relationships, and I've been intimate with the guys I've been in love with. But some of my friends haven't been in love and can't understand why a girl like me, who's obviously not a slut, would willingly go to second base with a guy.
