When my brother and I were little, my parents got us two hamsters. One Dwarf (my brother named her Amy) and one Syrian (I named her Princess Toadstool. >.> cause I liked Mario in 1993.) The Dwarf hamster lasted one day. I suspect Princess Toadstool went all Freddy Krueger on Amy's butt. But your dollhouse idea sounds cute. ^_^ @Sin: Aw. xd Gotta clip those claws, eh? Twiggy's got little claws too, and she claws my chest when I hold her. I think I need to get at her with a nail file so I don't walk around with scratches on my boobs. >.>

Anael De Ezra Heart Shaped Toastie Toastie had a pirate-ham once.
She's had a ton of hamsters... all named herbie. Except for Bert, but Pirate Herbie took care of him... crying
We bought two hamsters when herbie 4 died... they were supposed to be Bert and Ernie, but Ernie looked like Herbie 4, so he ended up being Herbie 5. AKA: Pirate Herbie.
See... Toastie's cat liked mice.. and Herbie 5 got a little too close to the side of the cage once when kitty was there, so kitty took a swipe and Herbie lost his eye. He looked like a pirate, all squinty because the other eye was gone. After a trip to the vet he was fine, but he never got his eye back. Therefore he became Pirate Herbie, killer of Bert. He didn't like bert for some reason... so he made him walk the plank...off of their hammy house... O_O☼ ìn my sσƒt sεrvε drεαms... Well, were they Syrians? See, Syrians are solitary hamsters. They don't get along and will fight to the death. Also, two male dwarf hamsters, though they're normally social, will also fight and they can get too rough. ... Or did he really make Bert walk off the table? o_o A hamster can potentially have fatal injuries after a fall of only 6 inches. I don't think they were syrians. They were just normal, run-of-the-mill hamsters. Pirate Herbie was tan colored like hammy from once upon a hamster, and Bert was black with a white stripe down his middle.
And if you've never seen once upon a hamster: [ Educate ]☼ ìn my sσƒt sεrvε drεαms...

Been a while since I talked about Twiggy.
First; Toastie, Syrian hamsters are the "run of the mill" hamsters. They are the most common, and they're also called Teddy Bears, Panda Bears, or Black Bears based on their coloring. Miss Twiggy is a Black Bear hamster, because if you didn't see her glamour shot, she has black fur. But she is more commonly known as a Syrian hamster.
She's just a Syrian hamster with black fur, white paws (I call them her gloves), and a white spot over her heart. heart
Secondly;
During Twiggy's health check today, after luring her from her bed and convincing her out of her pee corner with a nibble of broccoli, I had a miniature panic attack. Twiggy had a small wet spot near her tail.
And everyone knows what Wet Tail means. Wet Tail means Wet Tail, the most dangerous and deadly bacterial infection a hamster can get.
I quickly run to the computer and look up other symptoms, because I'm panicking. I look at every thing she's doing, thinking, why is she walking so low to the ground, why is she so slow-moving?
She has no other symptoms, so I take another peek at her tail end. It's dry, so I finally do the unthinkable. One of the symptoms is "bad diarrhea smell". I give her a good sniff.
*shudder*
My hamster's clean. She had her usual neutral smell, which is kind of a mild musk, like mushrooms. She had apparently just taken a pee before I flipped her over for her health check. xd
Anyway, that's the reason I give Twiggy daily cursory health checks. I check her teeth to be sure they're not cracked, I watch her walk to be sure she's got no injuries, and I always take a good look at that tail. If my baby gets hurt or sick, I want to know. Prevention is the best kind of health care, though. It's why I devotedly clean her cage weekly, give her food and water, and keep her stress level to a minimum.
Right now, I'm putting some more bedding in her cage. Her wheel was rocking against the glass last night, and it kept me up all night. X_X
Send some love to my healthy baby!
