What actually made me cry was when Sirius died in the 5th book. I had to put down the book and take some time to think about what had just happened. And I am not usually a very emotional person.
The part that got me the MOST was when I had thought that Harry had died in the 7th book. This was at the very end when he went into the forest to meet Voldemort. Then when I found out that he was still alive, the dramatic irony was too much for me and I had to stop again. But I quickly recovered because I wanted to know the ending.

I cried hysterically when Dumbledore died. Of course I was very pregnant and hormonal at that time. I also cried a lot when every character died in the 7th book. Tonks was the hardest for me though because I have always felt a connection with her.

Whenever we, the readers, learned a little more about Snape and his past. That always made me sad, down to the point where I started crying, and I rarely cry over fictional characters' pains. But personally, I would have to say reading the line "And all was well" was what made me the saddest as that was the last line I'll ever read of Harry Potter, unless I start re-reading the books, but you guys understand what I mean. sad
