She frowned when they headed back towards their cliff home but was surprised when he did not head towards any place she knew of. Just a bunch of flowering vines. Pretty but useless otherwise. But then he he practically fell through the vines and pulled himself though the rest of the way and she darn near fell out of the sky in her surprise. Where had he gone? Quickly she banked and flew back around toward the vines. Carefully she flapped forward to hover before them and thrust a paw through them. There was nothing on the other side. Even more carefully she pushed herself the rest of the way in then gasped.

Ace grinned at Beauty's expression when she saw the cave inside. It was quite breathtaking.
The cave was huge, with some smaller caves branching off from it. In the center was a large, clear lake with some sort of moss or algae that gave off a blue phosphorescence lining the bottom. Little fish glowing in a rainbow of colors darted through the clear water. Mosses that glowed in varying shades of green grew here and there on the walls and high ceiling of the cave, not brightly but giving off enough light that they could see well despite the lack of light from outside. Crystals in the rock shimmered in the soft glow.
He had brought here here. Now, to confess. He steeled himself, walking over to her. "Beauty...?"

She ignored him for several minuets to explore the cave. It was truly beautiful and she wanted to kick herself for not finding ti first. But then she probably wouldn't be able to convince herself to actually live in it anyway. Therefore it didn't matter. Playfully she probed at the fish in the pool then turned to inspect one of the crystals in the wall. I wonder if I could get one of those out? She was pawing at the crystal when he addressed her. She had almost forgotten he was there. She started slightly and was immediately ashamed of herself. "Yes...?"

Ace felt bad for startling her, she was obviously entranced. He was glad she seemed to like his surprise. He just hoped she'd like his other one too. If he didn't tell her now, he may never work up the courage again.
He looked at the fish darting about, to nervous to meet her eyes. "There's something I've been wanting to tell you for a while now." He looked up at her through his lashes, as if they could somehow protect him if she were to reject his feelings for her. But he had to see her reaction, whatever it might be.

He had suddenly turned shy. That surprised Beauty to no end. She turned to face him and walked forward. He couldn't want to tell me what I want to tell him. Could he? She reached forward and rubbed her muzzle along his, loving and reassuring. "I wanted to tell you something too today." Yeah she was ignoring the pretty cave now. But he was more important.

His heart soared at the intimate touch. Could she have some idea of what he wanted to tell her? Could she have been planning on telling me?! "Beauty I... I've really liked spending so much time with you. You're a wonderful Kylan, a great flier, and absolutely gorgeous. I like you as a friend, and I never want to loose that, but I've also realized that I like you more than just friendship can account for. I was wondering... ifyou'dbewillingtogooutwithme." He said the last part all in a rush, as if he said it fast enough it would make her more likely to say 'yes.'

At first she couldn't believe the words but soon they had sunk in. There was not way he could have said what she was think. But he had and there it was. The feeling her heart had when flying. All he'd had to do was open his mouth. She closed her eyes and enjoyed the soaring sensation. She'd never expected him to say it all first. He rubbed him again. Much more calmly then had spoken she said. "I love you. You know that right? I want to be with you always. I had given up hope I would ever meet someone like me. Now that I have I want to keep you." He was nervous that I would reject him. How silly. I've loved him since he first popped out of the clouds.

Ace could hardly believe what he was hearing. She loved him? He had thought that she might at least be willing to give him a chance, but he hadn't even dared to dream that she might already love him too.
He leaned into her, rubbing his cheek against hers. "My Beauty. How did I ever get so lucky?" Now that he knew she loved him too, he wasn't nearly so nervous.

She was still enjoying the soaring sensation when he touched her back. She opened her eyes and smiled at him. Finally she didn't have to worry about how he might feel. The sensation was both new and old. "Lucky? We have always been a pair of twin soaring hearts." She nipped at his chin playfully. "Now come catch me." She threw herself out of the vines and into the air. Happier then she'd ever been. Offhand he threw back. "You realize I want to spend my whole life with you. Have children with you." She spun in the air again and again. Trying to cement this day in her memory. Soaring hearts. She would always have her soaring heart.

Ace laughed with joy, racing after her. He nearly fell over the edge of the cliff when she mentioned children. What have I let myself in for. He thought bemusedly to himself. He'd never even considered the possibility of children. But... he found he kind of liked the idea, if it was with her.
"I'm gonna hold you to that!" he cried, spreading his wings and taking to the air after her. He wasn't worried. After all, he'd already caught her.
