I agree. I am a heavy Zutara shipper and pretty much wanted to kill Mike and Bryan after the series finale. But recently, I've been okay with Kataang more. I don't really like it, but I'm not going to hate on the creators.
If the Avatar series was going to go anything like Pride and Prejudice [which did happen for a while], let Zutara shippers take comfort in the fact that Zuko would end up with Katara. Check this link out: ♥
It was written before the finale, but it has a lot of truth. And that's how I thought about it too. So Zutara isn't all that crazy, just different.
Your link was an interesting analysis of common literature themes applied to the Avatar 'verse. Its validity as an analysis of the character interactions, on the other hand, is arguable.
I agree with one thing wholeheartedly, though. Aang is just as immature, awkward and irritating as Mr. Collins, and the relationship between him and Katara was just as much of a cop out for both parties as the relationship between Lizzie and Collins was in P&P.
I'd love to chat with you more about ships. It's been a while since I've had a Zutarian round about this haunt who could string coherent sentences together.
