Takuha I have a friend whos friend is part of the doctor who production team and apparently, the current favourite to succeed David is Mark Gatiss, which I think is a stupid idea but please, discuss. Hmm...that'd be interesting...not quite sure how I'd feel about it, although at the moment its quite a postive feeling.

I change what I said, about Gatiss being too old, BUT, However, he's already been in Doctor Who- Anyone see Lazarus Experiment? He was young Lazarus. That would be like John Simm as the Doctor. They are both considered DW Villains. Of course, Simm is far more, but I can't see him as the Doctor at all, even if he didn't play the Master. I'm watching Life on Mars (for the first time on On Demand) and I can't see him. I just can't. Even though he's wearing the Ninth Doctor's clothes. blaugh xp Back to Gatiss, I don't think he looks like a Doctor... of course I don't think Troughton looks it either. Oh, yeah, and: Shangri-La` DDD: He's definantly not too old, he's only about 5 years older than Ten. But he's not very doctor-y, comanding. Only Jon Pertwee and Colin Baker have been older than their past incarnation. Let's keep it that way.

Well Colin Baker had already been in an episode with Peter Davison before he became the doctor, but I still think that Mark Gatiss is the wrong choice.

Gatiss is great at bringing very 'actorly' depth to characters who you'd expect to be one-dimensional, but I'm not sure he would work with a character who needs to be faceted. He convinces you that there's something beneath the surface of whoever he's playing, but still only shows you one surface, which wouldn't really work for the Doctor. Nevermind, though. At least he's had a turn playing the Doctor in The Web of Caves and got to do an extended Peter Davision impression while playing Chinnery in the League. smile

Shangri-La` So Doctors usually last 3 - 4 years before being regenerated, and I was wondering who everybody thinks would be a good Doctor when Ten goes. I'd like to see somebody less handsome, because then the snogging and "OH DOCTOR, SHAG ME!" would stop. Infact, I'd like Bill Nighy to be the next Doctor, because he is made of win. Are you kidding! thats totaly the reason i started watching Doctor who in the first place!!! (its not why i still watch oit, dont worry) no! i LOVE sexy doctor!! PLUS! Tennant is NEVER LEAVING!! SHUT UP!! DONT BURST MY BUBBLE!!! *is freaking out*

bad-wolf-bay i think it would be amusing to have someone who's ginger, as 10 is always going on about how he wants to be ginger razz There's possibly an interesting motivation behind that little fixation. The novelisation of the Seventh Doctor serial Battlefield revealed that the future incarnation of the Doctor who will become Merlin was ginger (and a couple of the New Adventures backed this up). So when the Doctor's wondering if he's ginger or not, the reason that might be important is because it would let him know if he was Merlin yet. smile

I well didn't start really watching it for that reason.. since I watched a bit of it during Eccleston (whom I don't find attractive), then fell in love with the show during Tennant since he's adorkable! And exellent as the Doctor.
heh, and my best friend refuses to watch even one episode of Doctor Who due to the fact she thinks Tennant is ugly. I disagree, ((Which would be slightly evident by the fact that I laughed at the 'oh doctor, shag me'... not that *I* want wish that.. -shifty eyes- Besides, the Doctor seems to like Blondes, not other brown eyed Burnettes.. Pity really XD
Perhaps the fact that he's wanted to play the Doctor his whole life makes him so bloody good at it?
