Reaol noticed the weight that now pulled at Kashi. He frowned slightly once more wanting to know if it was something that he had done....or..perhaps his new form displeased her. Perhaps she missed his older form and no longer wanted him to follow. He was about question her, to see is he should leave her be and stop troubling her. As much as he never wanted to leave his new companion he would if she asked. Then her tail brushed against his leg and he instantly blushed once more. Why would she touch him if she wanted him to leave? Well biting counts as a form of touch but..this was gentle and welcoming. Kashi had already taken off and Reaol found that he was still contemplating the touch. Crap! He took off at top speed knowing that..wait...he was right behind her again...wow..this being an elder was quite convenient. The power, the speed. In a matter of bounds he had caught up. In a matter of minutes they began to slow and reaol was disappointed that the place wasn't further. He wanted to run! Then his attention fell back on Kashi as she addressed him and told him to stay behind. He didn't want to, he would be the last df to harm that rabbit but she was right. He looked like a beast. The poor thing would have a heart attack. He nodded his head and smiled at her. "I shall wait for you hear then."

Kashi padded through the trees and soon broke into a swift run, she wanted to get back to Reaol as soon as possible. She came upon the den of the rabbit slowly and barked a greeting, to which the rabbit squeaked a reply, recognizing Kashi's scent. It only took a couple moments for Kashi to nose about the poor dear and to add some more feather down to the mother's nest to make her more comfortable. The last thing Kashi did was bring a branch from a nearby bush full of berries and placed it next to rabbit mother so that she could eat. No sense in having a starving mother, Kashi mused to herself, when suddenly, a musky scent hit her nose.
Kashi gagged and whirled around, staring about through the trees. She knew that smell well, it was a scent she hadn't encountered in a long time, but there it was. The scent of a wild boar, a male at that. Kashi could almost scent the hunger that clung to its pelt like a bur, it was a scent she had smelled many times on an assortment of creatures. She shuddered, remembering the last time she had a run-in with a boar.
Kashi heard a rustling, and she snapped her head in its direction and began to snarl. But just as suddenly as the scuffling started, it stopped, and the scent was getting softer and father away. For just a moment, Kashi was fooled into thinking the boar had just walked away, but this wasn't the case. The sharp snap of a twig right behind her told Kashi that the boar had swung downwind of her and was now directly behind her. Letting out a howl of terror, Kashi hurtled her way through the trees back towards Reaol.
Kashi could hear the snorting and squealing of the boar hot on her heels, and suddenly, a deep rage welled inside of her. She used to be able to take care of herself! She didn't need anyone to help her! Kashi hurtled towards a tree, and right when she was about to run into it, Kashi leaped into the air and ran vertically up the trunk. A very audible "THUNK!" could be heard bellow her as the boar smacked head first into the tree. Kashi then dropped like a stone on top of the boar and howled with anger this time instead of fear, and began to attempt to scratch out the creature's blood read eyes.

Reaol sat and waited patiently for the return of his companion. There was the slight fear that she wouldn't return...that she was just using this as an escape route. However, he had hope. A soft smile spread across his face as he waited and he flexed his paws gently watching his new powerful claws knead the earth.
His nose gently twitched after a while and he began to sniff with a greater intensity. There was a new scent to the area, a boar. He quickly scanned the area around him but heard and saw nothing. Boars were known as a nuisance. They were extremely aggressive and didn't tend to care what or who they harmed. He hoped Kashi had sensed the animal, though he knew she must have. Kashi was fully able of taking care of herself he could tell. Reaol simply didn't want to cause the poor mother rabbit any more stress then she needed, and a boar...well..they were quite stressful.
Then he heard something. It was crashing through the woods towards him but..wait this was Kashi..and..and the boar? Why was she running? Of course...she was getting it away from the mother rabbit. He then sensed a change of direction and he ran off to inquire about the situation.
When he arrived..he was..well..."Kashi!"...She was clawing at its face and eyes, blood sprayed with each new slash. She was enraged and the scene truly disturbed him. While the boar was a nuisance nothing deserved to have its body mutilated unless it was for food! He had closed his eyes, wishing that the boar was invisible. Little did he know that thats what had happened. The light and sound around the mutilated creature had been bent so that no one would have to see it.

Kashi clung to the boar, fearing for her life. If the thing threw her, it would gore her alive. The forest's boars were MUCH larger than an adult dragonfly, and this one seemed to be no exception. Its huge tusks slashed the air as it fought to get Kashi off. Though she did do some damage, the thick coat of the great beast kept her from really doing much more than a few surface lacerations. But lord did they bleed... a lot!!! Kashi began to loose her grip as her claws slid over the blood wetting the great boar's wiry fur. Then, all of the sudden, the creature disappeared right from under her. Kashi freaked out completely and didn't even notice Reaol in the vicinity. She could still hear the boars squeals and labored breathing, but could no longer see the thing! Kashi cursed profusely and launched herself off the boar and up a near by tree. She had inherited the light bones of her mother, and that made Kashi an excellent climber. She clambered amongst the branches and leaves, and sat there as the shock of being attacked finally took over her body.

Reaol opened his eyes just in time to see Kashi suspended in mid air still slashing at...at nothing? Suddenly the terrified Kashi leaped up into the tree that was ...it..the tree was shaking? What the hell was going on? Where did the boar go!? No...no he couldn't have. Did he not will the boar invisible? "s**t! Kashi I'm..I'm sorry...I don't..I don't know how to undo it..." Reaol's eyes were filled with panic and terror. He had placed them both in considerable danger and now he..no..he must undo it! He closed his eyes and imagined the illusion dissipating and the boar slowly coming back into view. His head was hurting slightly but that didn't matter right now. He needed to help Kashi! He flung his eyes open again for this time he knew exactly what he wanted. With all the concentration he could muster he imagined all the light entering the boars eyes to bounce back before his eyes could process them. Hopefully this would leave him blind. The tree began to groan and crack as the boar continued to smash back against it. "Kashi! Kashi jump I think I blinded him!"

Kashi growled and sank her claws into the tree bark, well… at least now she knew what Reaol would do with his new elder powers. “Calm down Reaol, apologize later…” Kashi called out as a panicked Reaol began to try and undo what he had done. Finally, as the boar came back into view, Kashi herself calmed down slightly. She hated not being able to see her enemy, but now that the boar was in view, Kashi felt empowered once more. Then, suddenly, a strange bending of light occurred in front of the boar’s eyes, and it began to thrash around angrily, as if trying to scratch off whatever was blocking its sight. And just in time too, for the tree that Kashi had been standing in creaked and groaned as it slowly began to loose it hold on the ground. Kashi launched herself from the falling tree, but instead of jumping away from the boar, she jumped at it once more and landed on its back again. I am not some weakling that needs to be saved by some big strong knight, I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself! Kashi grumbled to herself as she fought to hang onto the boar’s wired hair. “Don’t kill it Reaol…! Just…. Lets scare it away!” Kashi cried out, howling loudly and trying to be intimidating.

Reaol sighed with relief as Kashi jumped safely out of the tree but cursed when she landed back upon the boars back. What was she doing? It was blind now they could get away easily and the illusion would wear off giving it back its sight. "Of course I'm not going to kill it!.." Reaol closed his eyes for a moment and tried to imagine the most terrifying thing that he could. Suddenly, a dragonfly larger than the boar itself appeared from the bushes and began charging the boar. It had ragged fur, blood red eyes, and teeth that looked somewhat like a saber tooth tiger. Its paws flamed a brilliant blue and it threw its head back to roar out in anger and rage.

Kashi rolled her eyes at Reaol’s reply and barked back, “We need to scare it out of the area… my patients are in danger with this guy around!” She held on for a little while longer, waiting for the big scare, but nothing came. She was just about to call out to Reaol again when a deafening roar rang through the trees. Her head jerked up and her eyes went wide as she saw a giant dragonfly charging strait at her. Apparently the boar heard it too because it went rigid under her. The monster dragonfly was the scariest thing Kashi had ever seen, its eyes, its teeth, its paws… the whole thing was like something strait from a nightmare. With a howl of pure terror, Kashi launched herself off the boar and sprinted towards Reaol, diving behind him with a yelp. The boar seemed to take Kashi’s example and charged off through the trees with a squeal. Kashi pressed herself against the fur of Reaol’s back leg and peered at the monstrous beast, still not realizing that it was one of Reaol’s creations. “Reaol… we have company...” Kashi whispered, trembling slightly.

The pure size and distance at which Reaol had conducted the illusion had taken its tole. It had taken all of his concentration to simply make the dragonfly run not to mention roar to the heavens. His head throbbed and his eye sight began to become blurry. He was afraid that the beast would dissolve before the boar would leave but then he heard it crashing away through the trees. He held the dragonfly for a few more seconds just for good measure...but his limbs began to shake and collapsed underneath him. He fell to the ground not knowing that Kashi had come to his side in fear. He panted his tongue lulling out to the side. "Did...did he leave...are ..are your patients okay now..are you....are you hurt...Kashi?" His eyes slowly closed and his breathing slowed. Perhaps he had gone too far.

Kashi frowned and felt her face get very hot all of the sudden. She turned her head to look up at Reaol, but found that her vision was all blurry. W...what's going on with my eyes!? A...am I going blind? Kashi swiped her paw over her face and found that her eyes were wet. They were tears! Kashi whimpered and crawled forward, her legs tired from the panic that had taken over her body just moments ago. She understood where that monster dragonfly had come from, Reaol had created it, and he must have used up a lost of energy to use his elder powers so much in such a short amount of time. Kashi scooted up until she was able to nestle against Reaol's neck and hide her wet face in his fur, "You did beautifully my dear... simply marvelously... I am fine my dear... you just rest now... Oh dear Reaol, everything is just fine..." Kashi paused and began to wonder if she was comforting Reaol as much as she was comforting herself....

Reaol's body was shaking and his fur was damp with sweat. His eyes still closed he could barely feel Kashi's head nuzzling into his body. She then began to speak to him and he had to work extra hard to just try and focus on what she was saying. His head pounded mercilessly and made thinking and receiving information quite difficult. How could he have been so stupid? That illusion was so immense that he shouldn't have even attempted it...but did he really do it on purpose? This..figuring out what being an elder is was a pain. If he made the wrong mistake without knowing how to use..or not use his power....he could die. He listened to Kashi and could hear the sadness and panic in her voice...but also something else. Not to mention..was she calling him dear? My dear to be specific? His lips formed what smile they could, a full smile impossible due to the fact his body refused to move. She was safe...and she was worried about whether he was okay as well. He began to feel an odd sensation in his body. For some reason he felt like he didn't have the energy to sustain himself as he was. The simple motion of breathing hard to accomplish. Suddenly his body began to change into his elf form.

Kashi kept her face in Reaol's fur, trying to get control of her emotions. He could have died, her request to scare the boar away could have killed him. She sniffled and was about to nuzzle closer to Reaol when new thoughts suddenly started to bombard her mind, Wait...! Why do I care so much?! He is just another stupid boy... no... no he isn't... NO! Yes... wait... arg! Kashi didn't understand, why did she feel like he was so special? Yes, he was sweet, and intelligent, a bit stubborn, but, its better than the ridiculously relaxed alternative. Kashi took a deep breath, inhaling Reaol's marvelous scent, but caught herself and stopped mid-inhale... Wait... what am I doing?! N... nothing... I'm doing nothing... His scent is just relaxing, that's all. He's nothing special.... yes...I mean no.... I mean yes isn't not... wait... huh?! What does that even mean?!
Kashi huffed and was about to turn her head away when she felt Reaol's body start shifting. She looked on with quiet understanding as he turned into his elf form. Kashi knew about this part of being an elder; being part elf is a big deal when becoming an elder. Though most elders found their elf forms weak and useless, Kashi could only dream about how much her easier her life would be with those deft hands and less clunky body. Kashi sat by and waited patiently as Reaol continued in his transformation, feeling a slight twinge of envy run through her heart.

Reaol lay before her in his elf form, his body barely moving from his light breathing. His long, black mane was now a soft layered hair cut that was longer in the front and top then the back of the neck. Hair wisps fell lightly over his eyes and his horns poked up through his hair. The large star like marking on his back leg was now on his hip and Celtic bands and designs wove their way up his wrists and forearms. His body began to stir gently and Reaol's eyes opened slowly. He shook his head trying to get his mind clear but visions of his last illusion sporadically appeared and disappeared. His head pounded and it felt as if he had ran right into a tree several times on purpose. His eyes then caught sight of the strangest thing. A weird object that looked soft and pale, with five moving appendages. However when he tried to push himself up with his paw he realized that it was strange limb doing so and not his own. Reaol pushed himself uprights awkwardly not used to this bodies physics. His eyes grew wide as he stared at his own hand unable to comprehend where his body went...then it occurred to him...this must be that stage that elders could transform into...the one Kashi had wanted him to try. Kashi..."Kashi..Kashi!" it was a whisper a first and then louder as he turned his head about off balance looking for her. He sighed with relief as he realized that she was sitting right next to him. "What...what happened Kashi?"

Kashi huffed and pouted crossly, as the warmth that Reaol had been seeping into her while next to her body was suddenly removed. Her mind was still going through a rapid whirlwind of thoughts and emotions. As he changed, Kashi could see that obviously he was very handsome, and for a moment a pang of jealousy stabbed her heart once more. But she quickly discarded the feeling yet again, knowing full well that nothing good would come out of feeling such a way. Kashi sighed sympathetically, but she had to bring a paw up to her face and drape it over her muzzle to hide the woflish smile spreading on her lips. He was so cute when he was ruffled! Suddenly, Kashi's eyes grew wide and she shook her head rapidly, dispelling those thoughts from her mind as well.
She quickly adopted her usually face of somber gruffness, but she could not hide the blush that was seeping across her cheeks as she fought and lost the battle against the flirtatious thoughts bombarding her mind. When she first opened her mouth, all that escaped her throat was a small squeak. With a frown she coughed a little bit and placed her tail comfortingly against Reaol's leg before replying, "It is alright Reaol... it is ok... You've no need to worry about anything. You expended a lot of energy, an now your body needs rest. My den is not too far ahead, lets go there and we can take a nice long nap... Trust me, you'll feel much better after one of my herbal concoctions and sleep... I'll explain on the way, can... can you manage?" Kashi looked Reaol over and began to sniff him gently, running her cold nose over his calves. She had the ability to scent fatigue on a dragonfly, and she hoped asking him to walk, even for a short distance was not too much.
