[Q]  Ok, rant time. *snip* /rant You know, you did state one of the reasons why I said earlier that I find the concept of makeup odd; it's paint, and some people hide their identity behind it, sometimes to the point of obsession. People don't need to hide behind paint. It gets silly after a while. And, you're right about the sex appeal, to an extent. Makeup can, or is, in fact very appealing, and it is used as such. Nymphie is also right about the self esteem, and how some use it as such. To be honest, I put it on because I found it lying around, childish curiousity struck me, and I wondered how it would look on me. When I put it on, and found how awful it looked, I started to laugh at myself and how silly I looked, and made this thread. It was my own makeup, from Christmas, that people gave me, even though I've never been too interested in it, and rarely ever wear it. I usually go barefaced. And, as noted earlier, I like the more natural shades, that look like it's barely even there. I could play around with it in the future, to practice, just in case there is a scenario where I have to wear it (can't think of any, but I'm sure there is at least one). Heck, I may even go check out the sale Sin and Nymphie were talking about, if I get THAT bored. It's alright to have your own opinions about makeup, and whether people should wear it. I personally, am not too interested in it as to wear it every day, and just wanted to see how some of what I got out of curiousity. I'd probably only wear it for special occasions, though, as I see makeup as more of a special event sort of thing. But, no matter what, your opinions are yours, and you're free to have them. XD Kitty- Oh, I remember a girl like that, at my old school. Except it was black eyeliner. It just didn't look good on her. I didn't think it was her type, at all, really. And Sin made me want to draw L as a girl. Too bad I still need to practice my arts skills a bit more, since I keep forgetting. xd

And I never put eyeshadow underneath my eyes, if I use it I put it on top. I tend to use mascara and eyeliner, that's it. But if you do use it again, you will get used to it. It takes 2 minutes for me to put makeup on now instead of 30 minutes when I started using it. It was a shade of brown. I don't know the exact brand, as it came in a package, with an eyebrow trimmer. And I put some on top; I just put some on the bottom as well, a bit too much. XD And, I kind of figured that I could get used to it. I don't think I'm too much of a person who'd look good in eyeshadow, now that I think of it. xd Brown/tan is the only color I would use personally. ;D >o< Have you tried the mascara yet? Try not to stab your eye it hurts if that happens. Yup. I got two containers, one of which has a clear bottle, and the other black. And, I have used both, I think black sometime earlier, and the clear just a few minutes ago, just to check. It looks fairly good, at least better than the eyeshadow did. XD That's good. I personally thinks it brings out my eyes more when I put it on.

Return_of_Watanuki-san I actually get somewhat pissed every time my mother comes at me with a tube of lipstick. It's like... "Mo-oo-om, I'm pretty enough without makeup! Why must you insult me by trying to improve me?" xd MY mom is like that. When I had glasses she would tell me every single day "boys dont make passes at girls who wear glasses" . My mom would rather pay $5000 for lasik vision then have a daughter who has to wear glasses. And for forever I was like "MOM I AM PRETTY D< Get over the glasses talk2hand " But then I finally caved and got lasik.
My mom is in love with corrective surgery.
I didnt start wearing makeup until college. In high school it was just too much effort. I already had to get up at the crack of dawn, no way would I get up even earlier just to put on makeup.

On the topic of mothers making us do things with our looks...
I have a mom like that, as well. Occasionally she buys me clothes that she thinks would look good on me, such as the things she considers more fashionable (I usually just wear a T-shirt and shorts or slacks). I think that's why I got makeup, as well.
Oh, and she wants me to pierce my ears, saying that I'm a kid, and should do things like that, because I couldn't do it when I'm older. XD
And, some people do actually find glasses attractive. There's such a thing as glasses fetishism. And, then there's the meganekko (which is basically a female anime character who wears glasses. A lot of fanboys apparently LOVE it, from what I hear). But, it was up to you whether or not to have glasses, of course. XD

I went from glasses to contacts for two reasons:
1) I can actually see better with contacts and I have perifial (sp) vision now, before I had fuzz, and perifial (sp) vision is a must in Drill.
2) I live in the rainy northwest. Glasses don't come with windshield wipers, thus presenting a problem. Lawlz.
Oh, and my opinion of makeup is that it should be used to accentuate things that you already possess, such as a nice smile or pretty eyes or what have you. It should never be used to hide something you don't like (except for zits on formal occasions), like square cheekbones or whatever. It's make-up not cover-up.

I've worn makeup since the 6th grade. It used to be a self esteem thing. I couldn't leave the house without makeup. And then I grew up. I don't wear it to look better, I wear it because its fun. I enjoy doing makeup. I've done it for a little over 3 years now, I love it.
It takes a while to get good, Aine. If you want advice if you ever wanna try it, try like a peachy or gold eyeshadow with a bit of pencil liner. Mascara's a little trickier but practice is great.
I know you don't want to start doing it regularly, but hey. It really IS fun when you're bored.
On a personal note, I usually switch up my makeup. Today I had a purple/pink shadow and liquid liner just on the top. I know girls that wear makeup occasionally and its just fine, you know? I've gone to school without it before, I've been out of the house with a clean face and felt great. <3
and on the subject of glasses being attractive, I find braces absolutely adorable. A cute boy with braces = amazinggggg. <3

OH, and while I menchioned death note and glasses, I was writhing english jurnals today during lunch, and you know i have the thick black glasses and the black shaggy hair cuz im stressed and stoped caring 2nd period, and i was trying to get it done so i was about 2 inches away from the paper with my headphones in and my friend pokes me and goes "God I keep wating for you to knock me out and go "ELIMINATE!" xD Im gona do that during the midterm, I sware :3.

So I played with it again, just a few minutes ago, and it looks a bit better this time, probably because I slightly knew what I was doing this time. It's not the BEST LOOK EVER, but it's a start. XD
And I want to be compared to a Death Note character, for some reason. I don't know why, I just... do. XD

I agree with both sides. Makeup is good, but some peole use it to become someone else, and try to hide themselves. I think a lot of times it looks better to have no makeup than way to much.
If I wear makeup, which is almost every day, it is just a bit of my eyeliner, some mascara, and lip gloss. And I only wear makeup because I like the way it makes my eyes look really. Even though I have a bit of a self-esteem problem, I don't use makeup as a cover up.
With eyeshadow, my advice it find a pale brownish color and use your finger and just put a smudge of it above your eyes, or at least that's what I do when I wear it...
