I can really relate to you on the whole wood vs plastic front. I have a wood clarinet that I march with and surprisingly it handles very well compared to most others. I really would suggest going to a shop just on the off chance the wood has started any internal rotting...

Who cares if the wood clarinet "plays better?" You NEVER take those outside... the extreme temperature changes can and very much will (or you know, already HAVE) ruin the clarinet. Plastic clarinets are JUST FINE if you have a great mouthpiece.

And besides, if you're doing a marching show, sounding "good" won't matter much if you play clarinet... no one hears the clarinets anyhow. >_<;

they only don't hear the clarinets if the show is written wrong, or numbers don't allow. With good instrumentation and keeping the woodwinds up front in close proximity to each other, hearing them is no problem.

It doesn't matter any more. you need a new clarinet. getting a wooden clarinet wet like that will ruin it completely. I would just get a cheap plastic clarinet that you can use for the time being and then save your money to buy a new wood one. You should use the plastic one for marching season ONLY!!! use the wood one for concert season ONLY!!!! you can go to any music store and probably get a relativly cheap clarinet that plays good.
