When you think about birthdays, what is it that comes to mind? For me, birthdays are a reminder of how greatly people have disappointed me in the past, and how little thought or consideration they give me(for as long as I could remember, I have never, EVER gotten a party thrown for me). It's just another day that comes and comes in my eyes, and will probably hold no significance until I find someone who does something to help make it memorable. I expect my birthday tomorrow is hold little gravity or weight to my family.

Eh, Koiyuki's views on a birthday is a little too nihilistic for me. Again. confused
I mean, yeah, it isn't the 'zomg! PARTYPARTYPARTY!!' kind of thing that it is for some; in a lot of ways it's the same of any other day- I've worked on a few. The only benefit is the attention I get, the birthday money and presents, and a little more attention in day-to-day living. But mostly, I reflect on the difference between this year and the others before it- in a sense, it's like a second New Year for me, albeit in a more personal sense. I look at how far I've come, how I've grown and matured, what I could do better and how to be a better man then I am now. Granted, it isn't always as deep as that, but for the vast majority my birthdays have been times when I look back and see what's led up to the man I've become. And, in a way, my birthday's a time to wonder what sort of man I'll see in the mirror in the years to come.
I hope he'll be proud of me.

Errr....happy belated birthday. (God I'm always late on these things.)
Yeah, New Years will forever remind me of the sinister darkness that fills the innermost depths of the human psyche. It's an awesome feeling when you go to bed at night; knowing that fairytales are just dreams and there is no happily ever afters.
