Lucy smiled he liked his name it had a certain charm to it.

As she saw him bounding away she gave a quick heave and ran after him.

"Umm what are we looking for?" she asked curiously as she saw him sniffing for something.

Her nose twitched as ash rose up under her paws, and she gave a quick sneeze.

Kiran pawed at the rubble anxiously. With all truthfulness, he couldn't bring himself to give Lucy a good answer. Who even knew of what happened here? Kiran scented an old, familiar scent of a friend he once knew. It gave him false hope as he raised his head up and blinked at the doghouse that he frequented.

"Something to fill holes in the story." Kiran said finally.

He paced around the remains of the doghouse. It had a burned sign on it, with only the letters "ui" visible. Kiran sighed at his failed attempt and looked back at Lucy.

"If you expect me to lead you home, you're staying here until I find what I need." Kiran insisted.

Lucy nodded "Ok i'll stick with you" she turned and started looking among the rubble her paws turning black as the ashes clung to her pads and fur.

She too noticed the burnt signs with to visible letters on it 'ui' and she to knew what it must have meant.

She frowned at the sad story this place told even when it could not talk but it showed the damage and shock it left in it's presence.

Her tail hid between her legs as the wind ruffled her fur and blew the ashes off her white coat turning coal to diamond.

"So how did this start? what made the fire begin in the first place?" she asked her eyes looking around at the dark place that she imagined as once magnifecent.

"I wish I could tell you. I'm sure that there will be the answer here somewhere." Kiran said as turned his back on the dog house and entered what remained of the kitchen.

Kiran knew that this kind of room was where food was made...and heated. He'd seen the blue fire and the orange coming from the robust metal contraption. He scented around the oven, hoping there would be answers.

"Hold on." Kiran said, halting the search party. "If anything, the humans probably found the answer before us.... They stick their noses into everything."

Crestfallen, he walked over to Lucy in disbelief. How could he have forgotten such a simple piece of the puzzle? Kiran decided that when he were to return home, maybe he'd get a clue from his owner,

"Oh yes how could we have forgotten" she said shocked she did not think of it.

She trotted out of the house and shook her coat the ashes dropping off to the floor leaving black powder onto the burnt ground.

"Were to now?" she asked admiring kirans bright coat, even hidden under the ashes.

Kiran looked back at Lucy, trying to keep his spirits up for the sake of keeping Lucy happy. Noticing a slight trailing off in Lucy's voice, Kiran blinked and looked down the street.

"I oughta take you home. Don't know where you live, but I can point ya in the right direction." Kiran said.

In his heart, there was no way he was ready to give up his search. It was however, getting late and the sunset in the distance mimicked Kiran's fur coloring. When night fell, there would be no point in continuing the search and if he didn't help Lucy home, they might as well be strays according to the dog catcher.

"Well is there anyway you'd like to come with me, my owners would like me to have company" she said delighted at the idea.

Plus it seemed he did not know where his owners where.

Lucy sat down the sun turning her fur multiple colors, her tail wagged she loves when the sun sets.

Kiran pondered on Lucy's invite for a moment, considering the pros and cons. His owner was indeed not around, as he remembered her taking a sleeping bag and clothes and leaving the house alone. He found no cons and his mood perked up.

"Sure! I'm certain my owner's gone and, I think I could use a little pampering!" Kiran said.

Eagerly, he leaped to the fence aside a house adjacent to the burnt one, which hardly seemed to be the way off the street. Kiran pawed at a few of the planks in order. He then scooted back and headbutted the bottoms, leaving a even bigger gap than before.

"This way! One of my more brilliant shortcuts out of here." he said pridefully.

Lucy's fur fluffed she was delighted he wanted to come.

"Oh cool" she said 'he must travel around here alot' she thought as she followed him.

Her tail wagged every step and she did not care she was tired or hungry she was happy she was with him.
