anekosister Yeah... I'm a violin. Oddly enough, I happen to have a strong dislike for the high notes we play too. I would have chosen viola if i had known about those. I happen to love the sound of the cellos though. You guys all sound great. Luckily, I at least get to play second, even if I do have to be section leader. Does anyone here like leading the section? Or would you rather hang closer to the back where you can hear and hide better? Well now im the 2nd of 3 basses. so i get to lead more but when my senior leaves at the end of this year I WILL BE FIRST!!! xd ...and if i dont i will fight for it...haha...cant tell im hyper right now! 3nodding

well, i consider myself a lower-string-- i play the viola. but i've never been quite sure-- is viola upper or lower string? because the other day at youth symphony, the conductor said, "upper strings, start playing at ____." so the viola section started playing. he stopped the orchestra and said, "violas. i said upper strings." so we were all "okaaaaaaay..." the next week he said the same thing: "upper strings, start playing at ______." obviously we didn't start playing. duh. but then he stopped and said, "violas, why aren't you playing? i said upper strings?"
at first we thought he was joking, but he was serious. we were so confused. (trust me, it doesn't take much to do that to a viola player!)
so now the section's suffering a bit of an identity crisis. xd

Hartlem I stopped hanging out with the other bassists at my school... there all a**holes... stare hey! I play the bass and I think i'm a pretty decent person. crying I have viola and violin friends.

I love viola and violin. I play the violin, I also hate high pitched noises. But I love my violin to death. 1st chair! I also play piano and guitar. <3 strings!

Hey congrats on the first chair! Our orchestra was recently rearranged, so I was in 4th, and then got moved to first. I'm a second violin though, not a first. Thank goodness, i think I'd die in the 1st violin section. And even though I hate the high notes, I love my violin to pieces too. *hugs it* I dunno about you, but it's really hard to go from not having lessons or being in a group of any sort, and only playing level 2 material, to getting suddenly plopped into the best orchestra, in a new school, playing level 6. Insanity I tell you, insanity! Well, that was last year, but it's still a lot of work for me.
