[ :: T h e . L i g h t . o f . a . W i n t e r . S t o r m ::] In your darkest times, find that ray of light which will dispel your fears and part the clouds... Zanen closed her scrunched her eyes shut and she turned the doorknob and gave it a little push. She wasn’t disappointed by the howling gust of white that assaulted her as soon as she opened up the door to her sanctuary. The teenager grimaced as powered snowflakes kissed her face repeatedly, numbing her cheeks with a frosty coldness that made her gasp. Puffs of silvery vapor escaped her mouth to linger in the winter air, before regrettably fading away into nothingness…as if they never existed in the first place. Assuredly, the howling blizzard seemed to bring a winter wonderland into reality and it was simply beautiful to look at, but walking through it was another matter entirely.
There had been a time when she loved the dancing flakes (namely, right before she decided to venture to greet their arrival), so elegantly flying around in flurries of white. But now, the day saw her irritably rubbing her eyes to clear her long eyelashes of the obstructing winter flecks, and hugging herself as protection from winter’s ferocious gales.
“Oh why, why did today have to be the day that I ran out of chocolate?” she sighed, her words instantly swept away by the incessant howling of the winds. Every trudging step brought her closer to the store, and yet there still appeared to lie a vast expanse of ground to cover before she would near her destination.
Gritting her teeth stubbornly, the girl plowed onwards. “Oh, if only you knew the things I do for you, chocolate,” she muttered sarcastically, wanting to turn back with every single step forward.
Suddenly, a streak of what appeared to be a dark silver hurtled through the air, so fast that should she have blinked at the exact moment when it crossed her line of vision, Zanen would have undoubtedly missed it. A muted sound was heard somewhere over to her right, and the teenager hurriedly scurried over to try and trace its source, her curiosity aroused.
Scanning the billowing landscape with narrowed eyes, there seemed to be nothing unusual…trees, snowflakes, a lamppost, more snowflakes, her hair flying madly in the air, snowflakes again, a wing, even more sno—wait, a wing? That surely didn’t fit in with the picture!
Brushing back the long strands of her midnight woven tresses, she jogged over to the large pile of snow and sure enough, a little light purple wing fluttered against the heavy winds that sliced through the atmosphere. Her light brown eyes widening with curiosity, gloved hands quickly brushed away the thin layer of flakes that had settled on top of the rounded object. An intricate circle stared back at her, and almost subconsciously, a covered fingertip gentled traced its patterns in awe. It was…an egg.
Zanen could feel a light pulse reverberating from it, and she carefully lifted it out of the snow. Snow…now she loved it once again, having cushioned this beautiful entity’s descent from the heavens, despite the fact that its bitter frostiness still stung her exposed face. Without thinking twice, she took off the thick scarf that adorned her neck and wrapped it around the egg, noting slightly in amusement that it seemed to have a most beautiful hairpin at its side. The next minute saw her walking back the way she came, and Zanen couldn't help but feel that the egg she held in her arms contained something that transcended her wildest dreams.
Time would tell...

[ G.r.o.w.t.h. xxxQ.u.e.s.t. ]
Melusine seems a little resigned to come out of her jewel like casing, and so would I if I lived in such a shining home. She already seems to have a affliction for sparkling items so perhaps with a few more you might be able to coax her out. Find two items that might appeal to her tastes and see if anything changes.

[ :: A . B r e w i n g . A d v e n t u r e . o n . a . R a i n y . D a y :: ] Follow the path and see where it leads... Light brown eyes hurriedly raced across the thin piece of paper, hungrily drinking in the enticing story which being told through the squiggles and loops of the elegantly printed words upon the smooth page. A pale hand clutched the book, knuckles tautly clasped around its binding and belying the girl’s hidden tension which surged strongly within her veins. The other fingers were resolutely wrapped around a decadent bar of bitten dark chocolate. It was the perfect setup on an uneventful rainy day, and what more could one ask for other than a good book, delicious chocolate, and a luxuriant couch to recline in? Ahh, the simple pleasures of life…
Zanen swiftly took a quick bite of the chocolate, savoring its overwhelmingly rich flavor as it melted in her mouth as she nimbly flipped the page—both actions executed with a speed that only someone who had done the same thing countless times could manage to muster. Her eyes widened as they alighted on the first sentence on the new page.
“OH MY GOSH, NO! HE CAN’T DIE!” the normally quiet girl yelled in alarm, her body suddenly rigidly sitting in an upright position instead of lying down. The sudden subconscious movement unbalanced the girl, and her arms flailed wildly as she tried to regain it, spinning the bitten chocolate out of her hand. “Erm…whoops?” Zanen giggled sheepishly as her eyes followed the chocolate bar’s flight through the air, until it unceremoniously landed on the silver-ish purple egg that she had found in the snowy storm days ago.
Gently setting down her book, the teenager hastened to the egg’s side and still silently laughing at her silliness, she plucked the slowly descending bar of chocolate off of the egg’s smooth surface. “We’d better get you cleaned up, yes my lovely?” she smiled with a conversational manner, one of her slender fingers circling the dark brown stain that her sugary treat had left behind as a testimony to its presence. Setting down the chocolate on the desk after making sure that the wrapper was firmly enclosing the bitten portion, Zanen gently scooped up the egg with both arms and took slow and careful steps towards the bathroom—after all, she wouldn’t want a repeat of her inability to keep a hold of whatever she held, and the egg probably wasn’t as durable as the chocolate.
As the teenager neared her bedroom, it gave a violent shudder that nearly propelled it out of Zanen’s arms. Drawing in her arms tightly around the egg which acted as a restraining stronghold, she softly scolded it, “Woah there, you wouldn’t want to be dashed upon the ground, believe me.” The egg refused to listen and continued twitching until the teenager hurriedly walked past the bedroom and entered the bathroom.
“That’s odd…it just suddenly stopped,” she mused, gently rising the chocolate off of its smooth shell. Carefully removing the egg from within the confines of the sink, Zanen carefully patted its exterior dry and stood back to admire her handiwork. “It’ll do,” she trilled in a lilting voice, as she danced her way back in an unusually good mood with the egg clutched securely in her hands.
The frantic twitching of the dark silver orb signified the teenager’s nearing of her bedroom, and this time, she stepped inside, curious as to what seemed to be affecting the egg in such a curious manner. Slowly moving around the room’s perimeter, Zanen tried to ascertain which point of it stimulated the egg’s shaking the most. The teenager had just neared her right bedside when the elliptical orb started to tremor in an almost fierce fashion, as if whatever lay within its purplish shell longed to break from the confinements of its beautiful prison. This was it without a doubt, the place that was setting off the insistent twitching of the egg. So was it just the place or was it…

A snow globe sat on top of the drawer adjacent to the bed, its smiling inhabitants calmly surveying the scene that lay around them as they stood nonchalantly atop of the shimmering, frosty collaboration. On her pillow lay two stuffed plushies—one an angelic bunny with a glinting gold halo that sparkled under the room’s light and the other was a smiling star that seemed emanate a celestial glow of its own making.
…The objects…?
Shrugging, Zanen cautiously placed the egg on top of her pillow along with the plushies and close enough to the snow globe, and then used her blankets to construct a sort of makeshift nest to keep it from rolling off the bed. It gave a contented wobble before falling silent, and the teenager grinned.
“Right, so my eggie, you have fun adjusting to your new surroundings and I will get back to my bookie, ‘kay?”
The egg twitched subtly as if in response to her question, and Zanen smiled once more, before quietly walking out of the bedroom and shutting the lights.
