Cool, thanks guys.
I kinda know what you mean by the whole melody thing. But once I find the starting pitch, I can just play the melody with hardly any mistakes. I guess I kind of hear the intervals. Like, for anybody who has played any of the final fantasies, I picked out the chocobo song when I was 7 or 8 years old. My brothers were absolutely baffled. Ever since then I've been picking out my favorite melodies (Aeris' theme, tifa's theme, the Sephiroth is gonna kill you theme, and the Kingdom Hearts theme) left and right. Does anybody else like to do this?
Yeah, I do that too. When listening to any kind of song (not just video game music), I have a tendency to wander to the piano and pick the melody or any of the supporting lines out. It annoys the hell out of my spouse because they can't do the same thing.
I've been trying to learn this song by ear on a webcomic that I don't read anymore. The girl doesn't read music, so when all her fans asked for the sheetmusic to the OST she's making up, she said no. I made a suggestion via email that she can invest in a MIDI cable and play right into a notation program, but she in essence told me to **** off. To get my revenge, I'm learning one of her songs by ear, going to notate it properly, then send it to her with a legal notice that she cannot distribute the printed copy due to copyright.
Booyah. Beware the wrath of a musician!!
The only part of the song that's holding me up is this bridge all in blocked chords. Those I have trouble hearing, especially with a low-quality sound recording as my only basis to learn it.
