*sighs* my body has never been perfect but now wow... I don't even have a belly button... my stomach is like a war zone and I have stretch marks everywhere.. I also had a c-section to further complicate my extra skin and gut but you know what

i'm learning to live with it because I have no choice. I can't afford plastic surgery and this doesn't go away. The doctor says that it gets a little bit better over time but will never go away.

So ladies.. anyone else have this and is learning to just deal with it?

I'm not going to rule out plastic surgery... maybe one day i'll be lucky enough to afford it. I was thinking about getting a tummy tuck and a breast lift.

I myself have never been pregnant, but my mother has had four kids and she is 42 now and is fitting in my 16 year old jeans. It will go away, but it'll need lots of attention to the stretch marks, there are ointments out there that help reduce the appearance of the stretch marks. and good exercise and a healthily diet can help shrink any stomach to make those stretch marks less long and less apparent. I hope that helps some, otherwise I'm not sure if I know anymore you can do besides ask a doctor what would lessen their appearance on your tummy

It seems as though there will always be a little "pouch" left! My youngest just turned 16 this month and I feel fit and active, but I will never fit back into those 5-7-9 jeans I wore in college! I go between size 10 and 14 (depending on the brand and how they fit and what time of the month it is) and yes, the stretch marks have faded a lot! I am thankful to have the problems with "after-baby sizing" that I do, because it means I also have the wonderful family that I do! There are some days that are more discouraging than others, but, oh well! That is life! 4laugh I exercise and try to eat healthy and I look up which exercises REALLY work like they are supposed to - I used to do those sit-ups to banish the belly until I found they actually make it worse! I think the biggest thing I could say is to give it time and allow yourself to feel it is alright not to be perfect - even the models on magazine covers are "air brushed" to look more perfect!

I've always been chubby. There's no getting rid of these stretch marks - and they don't bother me! whee

the one thing the boneheaded doctors (yea that includes mine, who i love dearly, but... evil ) "forget" to tell you is that right after you have your child, and i mean in the hospital, you should get a belly band from one of those medical supply stores. if i had worn that for 3 months after my twins, i probably would not have had to go through the tummy tuck. I HATED getting the tummy tuck but i had no choice. my rectus abdominus was continuing to tear and getting wider every year, despite becoming a gym bunny. people were thinking i was pregnant again (which was depressing, since i couldn't have any more kids). and my intestines were messed up from the wieght of overgrown organs not to mention going to the chiropractor every 2 weeks. and insurance doesn't cover the obviously necessary repairs! so you get my drift. it's expensive in more ways than one!

please, ladies, help me get the word out: tell every pregnant woman you see to get a belly band (the adjustable velcro kind) worn for at least 3 months post partum (yeah, waking and sleeping). fighting gravity after having a child can be disastrous.
