i agree that people from the city can have different attitudes toward things. city life moves more quickly than it does in the country or 'burbs. i also think that it has a lot to do with how you're raised and who you live around. all those loud-mouth girls probly come from loud-mouth families, or are acting like that to fit into their certain social group.
but forget about them, you don't want a loud woman yelling at you all the time. except if that's you're 'thing'.... wink

I have to agree; I know a few awesome black girls, but the majority of them are really loud; so much so that I barely even consider a black girl unless she's wearing converse or video game/band/anime shirts.
It's completely wrong, I know, but I can't deal with all that noise all the time.
Not that other races don't do it too, of course.
EDIT: Ha, I just realized that I'm zombified. Many would read this post and think 'omfg wut does dat white boi kno.' My avi was originally black (;

Sorry to dissect your post like this. It just makes it easier for me to respond. Pentium 6.0 I have to agree; I know a few awesome black girls, but the majority of them are really loud; so much so that I barely even consider a black girl unless she's wearing converse or video game/band/anime shirts. I know exactly what you mean. Then again, I'm naturally drawn to a more laid-back crowd than that of the more "popular" girls. Quote: It's completely wrong, I know, but I can't deal with all that noise all the time. It's not necessarily the noise- it's the attitude for me. Quote: Not that other races don't do it too, of course. Yep. Please excuse my sweeping generalizations here but... Girls like that tend to be mean- in all races (with slight differences here and there). That's why I tend to avoid them unless I am left no choice. Quote: EDIT: Ha, I just realized that I'm zombified. Many would read this post and think 'omfg wut does dat white boi kno.' My avi was originally black (; heart Well, I'm not one of those people. If you were white then that wouldn't make your opinion any less important (or more important- just throwing that out there xD). If it did, well then half of my opinion wouldn't count. : D

When I'm walking around campus, I hear a lot of black girls talking loud and being obnoxious. But I notice white girls do it too. I think it's just so they'll get noticed. Makes them feel important. Some people carry their self-important attitude from middle school to high school all the way into college. I think after a year or two in college, they find out that no one cares. You can't be popular or stand out there. Not everyone will care.
But OP, the black girl probably gave you a bad attitude because she didn't want to talk to you. I'm sure she wouldn't act that way towards a person she was interested. Just keep your distance from her next time, don't waste your time on her.

VeryHungry_Pie-raider what state? I live in a city and have attended public school all my life but people are usually pretty calm and nice in school I'm a military-brat, ao I've been to just about every state and no matter where you go it's the same. It doesn't matter if your in a private or public school either, because I attended a ritzy private school in NY and the females were wild. stressed Urban or not, that's just what a lot of females do when you get them together and don't even think about putting a cute guy in the room. It'll be WWIII. dramallama

heart All other races are like that you say but black women take the cake right? Because we're concentrated evil huh? I'll bet if we started going over all the faults of black males you and every other black guy in this thread would be up in arms (I wouldn't do that cause more negativity doesn't solve anything). If a person who wasn't black said "omg black people are crazy and loud. I wouldn't give them a second thought because they act like fools ALL the time" it would be an issue...but wait! you would probably agree with them and talk down to your own people wouldn't you? smh.

No offense, but this black female attitude is a well known issue. It's annoying, and being from LA I find it funny that anyone would dispute that. Same applies to latino women.
White women I've known are more likely to say/do something STUPID, even if they are highly intelligent
Asian women tend to be extremely trendy, which can be unnerving
These are all generalizations, that have nothing at all to do with race, pay attention.
It really isn't a race issue but a cultural one-White people can act just as ghetto as black/latino people. But even so, there are special situations where I tend to be more closed minded:
I try to avoid dealing with white male lawyers/police officers/insurance salesmen, and I avoid female black bankers/nurses/politicians. Plenty of other things here, but you get the point.
Yes, black female politicians. I had to attend a dinner and let me tell you she made Condoleezza Rice look good.

I've dealt with disgruntle black women before, and alot of them have to be tougher in my area. Black women are stepped on even worse than brothas. True the attitude thing could be a little over board, but some of them are just staying on the defensive.
The girls in the burbs with bad attitudes I can't explain. Maybe they get from t.v. or something.
Personally, I like a sistah who don't take nothing off of nobody, but I'd say they don't really need the bad attitude to get their point across. This one girl I dated was tough as hell, but calm and respectful. It was nice while it lasted. Ah, good memories.

I go to a predominantly Caucasian school--- There is the same drama, just not with slang ... More in a preppy way But still as vulgar Hostility is hostility period. Every race, every gender. Its the rude beast in everyone.

Ug, I'm tired of this stereotype. What's worse is that I'm even more tired of people who feed into them. Like the people who are the stereotype just because society tells them they should be. Like I was picked on for not speaking like a "black person". It's because of negative connotations like these that are latched onto our community that people look down upon us and I have a hard time attracting guys, unless they're black.

Being loud and such is just a way to draw attention to yourself, and establish social dominance.
Now that you know.. respond however you feel is best to such behavior.
As long as no one gets the idea that being confrontational is a trait of a "strong person" because these traits have been commonly associated with what qualifies a "strong black woman" .. then it's all good.

I want to say alot of the "shouting matches" die down with age and maturity. Please believe I used to use my voice and what came out of my mouth as an intimidation factor. I'm 5'2.. I needed something. But now at 20 years old, I haven't yelled and cursed someone out in almost 8 months... which is a record for me because I'm a hot head... I've pretty much learned that yelling gets you NOWHERE and it's not cute, no matter how much attention it draws....
I agree with Passion though... each ethnicity does something different. Going to predominately white schools growing up I've seen it all. There are different ways that girls act in order to convey their feelings. While stereotypically black girls yell with bad attitudes, other girls give silent treatments, make slam books, harass.. the list goes on. Erm. Yaaa.

Not that other races don't do it too, of course. the sad truth. I don't discriminate but you have to admit most black girls are really loud. I'm at an all black school too but I met some other cool black girls too though. I guess cuz that stereotype gets pushed on them so hard in the media and things.

It because we have to conform into a society that will never understand or like us anyway or we have to deal with a bunch of hidden and underline racism. Also what's loud or rude? I find more Italians and Russian to be even ruder than Blacks from my experiences.
I don't want to say culture because it depends on a number of factors. Just keep in mind not all Black women are like this and if so oh well. Try not to upset them. That's one of the many things I love about my people we don't keep s**t hidden all the time and we very upfront about our feelings.
