Is anyone else here celebrating the New Year Japanese style? I will be cooking lots of traditional Japanese food. I want to make ozoni mochi soup but I need to find a good recipe. 3nodding

What I did for the new years was go to a friends house and helped him work through his troubles, while we played fighting games. It came to me a highpoint of my day, and a good way to kick off the new year(especially since it's been a while)

みんな、明けましておめでとうございます!今年もよろしくお願いします!:D

I didn't celebrate Japanese style. I'm not sure how easy it would be to find the foods that are typically eaten there in America. Not to mention, as much as I love Japanese food, I'm not all that crazy about some of the New Years foods (such as the white fish eggs, which are supposed to represent fertility), and if I don't like them, my family surely won't.

We also don't have any Shinto shrines to visit around here smile

皆さん新年明けましておめでとうございます~

For new years eve eve, we went to my mom's friend's house and bought lots of sticky rice. She has a mochi making machine. This morning, mum fried the mochi and put nattou on the side with daikon oroshi. [大根おろし」

I got new years allowance. <3
