OMG! I'm the first chair trombonist in my band, and Id like to say that sometimes I wanna cry. My section is so horrible, it makes the whole band sound bad. The Second chair is obsessed with playing first chair music, because she came from another school where she was first chair, and the second chair is always flat, the third chair is barely audible, and the last chair doesn't even know how to play. He was put into band because he asked to. The last time that my director said good job trombones was two years ago, and that was when only me and and my best friend, who no longer plays, were playing. Oh, and I used to be section leader, but the trombones mutinied and said that because I was not there all the time, becasue I had to use one of my band periods for band, then I did not deserve to be leader, and they gave it to the flat 3rd chair. It was such a backstab, but I was pleased when they figured out that I was the one who kept theri music in order, made sure the instruments were cleaned and all the pieces in order, etc. I laughed so hard...

We dont really have chairs(1st, 2nd, etc.) in our band...
The girl(Clarinetist) on my left is pretty cool. Were always making jokes during class but the girl (Clarinetist) on my right is well.... She's okay. She's probably the most innocent and non-talkative thing ever but she was in choir last year and she should be in varsity this year but who knows what the BD was thinking. She plays really flat so much that it makes me shiver and not only that but she's always staring off into space(I'm also guilty of it from time to time...) and when we start playing she'll come in late and her first note is usually always screeched.

3rd and 4th chair think its funny to make their trumpets have sex in the middle of class. Me and first chair get really freaked out (only female trumpet players)

Kuruu Hyuuga I hate the first and third chairs. They're creepy...the first chair shouldn't even BE first chair. His sound is horrible (so says everybody in the band, and possibly the band director, who likes to keep PC when it comes to pplz playing), and he smears every single note (i'm in the trombone section). I'm second, and normal. The third chair fights with the first chair, has bad breath, and always plays with his brace wax (uuugghh, it's the SICKEST thing on earth). He also sprays it instead of saying it, so I have to cover my mouthpiece to avoid tasting "Travis Water". Basically, Wind Ensemble is living hell for me this year (as it was last year when i was third and they were second and fourth). Luckily, they're eigth graders and the year is half over. with any luck, i can beat up the first chair to show him that his precious "mommy" can't save him from everything twisted post your rant about how dysfunctional the other band members in your band are xd oh god. Last year was awesome ok heres the line up try to keep up flute sectionthe 1st chair flute and the 2nd chair flute hate each other. the 3rd chair flute trys to keep the peace. One freshman girl secretly plots against the 2nd chair girl in order to steal her spot... (which never happens btw) and 2 sophmores are after my head to get 4th chair which was given to me. Saxophone Sectionthe sax section is extremely quite.... except for one HUGE senor who bops freshmen on the head for sport. When he tells you to do something you better do it. also a freshman sax is dating the 2nd chair flute (which seems to break up when she graduates) Trombone SectionThe trombone section has an Extremely tall female section leader; the best friend of the Drum line Captain; and a weird guy who wont leave the precusion instruments alone and looks EXACTLY like McLovin from super bad Trumpet Sectionthere is exactly 1 senor, 1 junior, and 1 sophomore in coresponding chairs and several freshmen. the Junior and sophomore girls HATE each other and the Senor is the glue that holds them together. 1 junore+ 1sophomore=blood 1junior+1Sophomore+1Senor= the perfect trio. they got 1st in contest. Percussionthe captain is a sophomore and gets unrelenting scorn of the only senor. who already hated one of the freshman girls because she shoved an ice cream cone into his face on the bus ( ok he didn't hate her but I had to put that in this) then we've got the sophomore duo that put the pep into pep band ((really I mean if you want to do a cheer you better have them in on it or it wont happen)) then of course we have the pit, a freshman girl who was the last marcher standing in a field marching competition but is playing bells. god knows why. sadly this year isn't as cool crying

I love all of my fluteys! heart They work so hard and our section is pretty awesome because of it. I play second chair and the girl that sits in front of me is one of my best friends, and she's pretty awesome, she printed me off her copy of Syrinx last week. uhh, the girl that sits behind me... uhhh. I guess she's not one of my awesome flute friends. I'm pretty sure she's had it out for me since I challenged her and won her chair. But that's OK, she's graduating in a few months. mrgreen

I was 1st in an honor band.
I FREAKING LOVE THE 2ND CHAIR, HE TALKS LIKE A GIRL AND SINGS SHOW TUNES! (he's straight, if you're wondering). heart We're best friends!
Regular band is another story.
I hate the two chairs beneath me.
They keep saying: YOU'RE GOING TO FAST!
...
not my problem our BD stinks and picks music with no Clarinet 1 for an advanced player!

As a bassoonist I'm the only person in my section. ^_^ But sitting next to me is a barri-sax and a baritone. The baritone's cool but the Barri-sax gets on my nerves sometimes...

My band doesn't have "chairs" to rank players, but that did not stop me from HATING two in my section. To my right was the awesome Mellos; they were like the coolest people ever. Then we came to my Alto's (I say my cause I was the only senior, and I'd been playing for years). The section leader was a junior girl that sat at the end of the row, and between here and me were the two most annoying people I have ever been around in my LIFE.
They thought they were so funny. One would sit there and purposely squeak his horn, and the other would sit there and laugh. They didn't even PLAY during songs or if they did they would purposely play it WRONG. And they'd talk while the BD was talking. I wanted to smack them so bad. But our dumb section leader never did a thing about it. Thankfully, I'm going to college so I won't have to deal with them anymore.

Awww >w< I have a male trombonist in my group this year, he speaks like a girl too. Its so cute. I think its his normal voice though. I like the 3 girls in Summer Concert Band... The two are 9th graders.. Me? I'm a 7th grader. and the other is a grade above me. I used to have some bitchy flutes who couldn't play! And then they act so stupid. -__- And I was last chair, I am/was so better then them!

Well really I'm supposed to sit by 1st saxophone and 2nd trombone (I'm first trombone) but I sit by 2nd trombone (whom I hate) and 3rd trombone (one of my best friends, he joined band this year and broke his arm so he can't play) and I really don't want to sit by first saxophone or 1st baritone (until I start baritone in a month, he's the only one so naturally first.) So 3rd trombone is fine, and I wish I could go sit with percussion because all 4 of them are my friends. But 1st flute is amazing and pretty cute too wink and one of my best friends. So percussion, and 1st flute and 3rd trombone is who I want to sit by.
But really I want for some of the freshmen to come over so I can sit by like 4th clarinet (out of 7), who's like my best friend and 5th trumpet (out of like 10) who is her best friend and one of my good friends.

Let's see, I'm third chair, so I sit next to second and fourth, right?
Second chair-- The sweetest person you will ever meet. Seriously. She always seems to act really sweet and happy and has many times made my day. She plays piccolo during concert season (and is pretty good with the tuning) so I'd say she's great to sit next to.
Fourth chair-- The girl that plays extremely well (I'd say that she should be third chair and not me) but fails her classes a lot and never brings her music to class. Not good for me because I hate sharing music, but otherwise she's pretty nice outside of class. Half the time she really isn't even there because she'll hide in the bathroom doing God knows what half the period.
So I suppose I'm pretty well off, yeah.
