I'd say you should take German, Japanese or Spanish. German is the language of the most powerful country in Europe, Japanese is the language of the second most powerful country in Asia besides from China, and well, California is full of chicanos who speak Spanish.

For the record, if you plan on staying in America, go with Spanish.
If you plan on moving to Canada, learn French.
