These words are my h e a r t and s o u l ...SO, my birthday is on the 11th.
And. I'm quite excited, yet very sad.
I'll be 20 years old. No longer will I be a teen, which is kinda nice, but I don't think I'm ready to be a true adult. D:
I'm not really gonna ask how to grow up, but I just want reassurance that its not gonna be like this for the rest of my life.
By the way, an overcontroling family isn't helping.
ANYWAYS.
Discuss: <3 Getting older. <3 Maturity <3 Family members that treat you like you are 2. . . . And I won't let go . . .

You're in that nasty little cusp where you're expected to act like an adult, but you're not taken seriously at all.
It sucks. gonk
Aside from respect from other people, The best way to live is never having to "grow up". Being a grown up is the most sure fire way to sell out your childlike soul, which is far too precious.

I'm almost convinced that the phrase "growing up" has no real meaning. It's just something we arbitrarily assign to a collection of virtues that are sometimes gained with age and sometimes not gained and sometimes lost with age. We then expect all "adults" to live up to these values and ignore all "children" who possess them.

Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional. Personally, I think that if you put aside all childish things, your life would be extremely dull.

That is why I'm proud to be older and on here. I also still carry at least one game (hand held) in my purse, and never shy away from eating spaghetti-Os in my SpongeBob jammies. It's all about comfort and spark!! ^^ Most older people don't get that. I know these two dudes at this party I went to REALLY didn't get it, and made me feel so bad because I was 20 and carrying a game with me. I know full well being born in the 80s and growing up in the 90s that I wouldn't be the average adult or older person. lol Just the way I like it. However sadly, family almost never helps if you're not running on a straight course. I know mine isn't so welcoming. Can't do it all for them, though...or you'll be really unhappy. o_o

Personally, from a very young age I was forced to grow up more than most kids I know... I've always been complimented by adults as being mature for my age, other than my manager who was a horrible judge of maturity sweatdrop My boyfriend's grandpa, whom I hate, even complimented me for it and for having common sense... and I think we both hate one another.
It's funny, I b***h about pre-teens and even teenagers now, I worry to death about my younger friends (I have friends 5 years younger who I adore) and want to lecture them and mother them and take care of them and make sure they don't make my same mistakes. I adore my car, which is my grandmother's old buick so it's a perfect old person car, and I love wearing those sun glasses old people wear. I feel very old inside, older than I am... but at the same time I know tons of people who think of me as childish, because I embrace my inner child and having to grow up fast I learned the value of not trying to be too mature. If people say I look older than 18 I get all pouty and go and ask 8 people how old they think I am 'til I get enough acceptable answers. My friend teases me for dressing like an emo five year old. I think it's really about finding the mix that's right for you.
But 20 year olds aren't treated like adults, parents use it as a time to b***h about having to care for you but they aren't willing to let you go. At least my mom isn't... You can't even legally do everything yet. And sometimes I worry my life is gonna be like this forever... but I personally hope that if I work hard to fix the things I did wrong then I can end up where I want to be someday.

I grew up with my great aunt, who grew up in the time during the Great Depression. I was taught manners, how to cook and sew, and responsibility. If I wasn't invited to a friend's house, I wasn't allowed to ask to go. She loved me lots, she just didn't understand kids, really. But now I'm 29, and I play on Gaia, watch cartoons on a regular basis, and hang out with friends as often as possible. The only part that hasn't changed is that I have to be responsible for bills, and taking care of the house. If I couldn't act 'childish', I would probably be completely mental by now.

Adulthood is boring and meaningless...
I remember when I didn't have to worry about anything at all... now I have to worry about everything that comes up.
Damn work Damn Rent Damn Bills Damn People dying (No one died when I was a kid) Damn Everything!
I hate being old

My dad died before I was born. My uncle My grandpa My neighbors mom My friends grandpa Some kids at school My manager My friend, Steve, who was 20.
And my puppy crying
But I'm one of the few people who was accustomed to death since they can remember sweatdrop
