I'm dating a Harry Potter hater....Who looks remarkably like James.
That's actually why he hates it though. He was called Harry all his life.

I don't have/haven't had a boyfriend, so I can't say how it's gone so far, but I don't think it's too much of a problem.
With dating a "Hater", it could be just one minor disagreement, but he'd have to be understanding of my obsession and willing to hear me ramble. xD
It would be interesting though. Like, hearing his side of the story and why he hates it, and then me arguing flat-out. It could last hours. mrgreen
Dating another fan would be nice though. It'd be one more thing we could discuss extendedly, and I get to hear his views and opinions and whatnot.
If they were indifferent, I wouldn't mind, but again, they should be understanding. It's okay though, my best friend Susan is obsessed enough to match my obsession. :]

HP is something that has been such a huge part of my life. I discuss it constantly with my friends, even if they despise it (which some of them do, gasp!). It would just have to be something that they would have to live with.
It certainly wouldn't work out very well if they got super annoyed at my constant gibbering, but it's worked out in the past. Just one of those things they have to accept.
Sometimes, they even try to read them (or reread them) so that they can be apart of my life in more ways than they already are. 'Tis nice.

If they share the common belief, it would be nice...but if they hate the series (gasp!) then it should just be a minor little disagreement that could even turn into a joke!
So it's alright, I don't think it interferes too much with my 'love life'.

Well, I want to date someone with a Remus-ish personality, heart but I don't think that's exactly what you're asking. Would it effect my decision to date someone if they were an HP fan? No, however, I would most likely not be in a relationship with someone that did not read fantasy books. I read an average of two per week and they're a large part of who I am. talk2hand I need a fellow bookworm.

My boyfriend likes Harry Potter okay, but he isn't a fanatic like I am, and it doesn't affect our relationship.

Reading is too much a part of my life for someone I date not to like it...and since the Harry Potter books and a couple other fantasy series are my favourites, they'd have to at least have tolerance for it. The couple people I have dated long-term were both equally obsessed, and one actually got me into fanfiction, so...I suppose yes, it does affect my relationships. Not too badly, though.
