"You don't know anyone? Not even your own mother? I find that hard to believe. How can one not know anyone?" Alima sighed and shook her head. "Ah, nevermind. It's none of my business really. Though, in my mind, if you took the time to care, you'd be able to see inside someone and maybe, just maybe, you'd find that knowing at least one other soul besides your own would make things a little clearer."

"No, it's not your business!" Fairweather snapped, lips curling over his fangs. It was one of the few times he'd ever raised his voice, one of the few times his monotonous drawl expressed any sort of feeling. But realization hit the male and he hid his fangs once more, the look on his face and the emotion in his clouded eyes disappearing as quickly as it had come. A frown sat on his maw now, showing nothing more than slight disdain for the conversation. "Things are plenty clear enough," he assured her. "Save your concern for someone who cares." More than a demand, it was almost a request. Her care was better given to someone who would benefit from it.

Alima did not take kindly to being spoken to in that manner. Her quills were erect and her hackles were raised, her ears pulled back. "Who are you to speak me like that?" Her tail lashed angrily behind her. "You could at least have the common decency to carry on in an at least basic civil manner! Is it so wrong to care?! So help me, I almost wish you would freeze to death or something! Put the world out of your misery!" She immediately froze. Her words made her sick to her stomach. She had just wished death on him. She seemed to be slightly diminished after her tirade. She lowered her head and curled her tail close to her body. "I apologize, Fairweather. That was uncalled for."

Eyes widened, a look of dread lighting his features for a moment. But it was short-lived, replaced instead by a frightening expression. Lips curled back again, fangs shown, the corners of his mouth twisted up in an amused manner. A laughter rang from within him, a deep, guttural sound. "You want to know something?" He hissed over laughter, shutting his eyes. "I wish I would die, too! How funny that we have something in common after all." But he had always been too soft to take his own life. There was something still inside of him that wished to live. That little cub he'd once been, coiled happily in his mother's embrace. But she was gone now and he was alone. The laughter died down and he lowered his head, as well. A heavy breath left him as he relaxed his muscles now. "No need to apologize. After all, it wasn't like you were the one who barged in on me and then told me I should die for raising my voice in my own defense. Don't worry about it." He sniggered sarcastically.

Alima remained in her crouched bowing postion during Fairweather's response, ears drawn back and quills flat against her body. She closed her bright eyes and gave a soft shuddering sigh. She didn't know how to respond to that. Growing up it had been pretty much just her and her mother. They rarely had interacted with other kylan if they could help it. She had never really stepped out of line growing up. Alima had hardly even had an arguement. She was angry and upset and felt unsure of herself. This was new territory that she was treading on, fighting and things. She didn't like it but she had thrown herself headlong into it with the brief loss of her temper.

She shook slightly as she spoke, her emotions raging beneath the surface. "Shut up. Just shut...up, you bitter, awful man. I apologized genuinely and you spit back with your sarcasm. What more do you want from me, hm? Pardon me for trying to right my indiscretion with my previous tirade." Alima paused and took a slow, deep breath. "Alright. You know what...Sorry. Sorry for ruining your day. Is there anything I could possibly do to fix this even in the slightest way?"

"I already told you..." The sarcasm had died along with the laughter. His voice rang monotonously again. And all semblance of emotion was locked behind cloudy eyes once more. Where it belonged. "I don't need your care." Time had twisted this one so cruelly. Then again, perhaps he was just weak. Yeah, that was probably it. Though he would never admit it. "Don't you see? You're only hurting yourself by trying to help me." He considered himself beyond help, living each day and hoping it would be his last, watching the world through worthless eyes that revealed none of the beauty others claimed to see. His mother had told him of such beauty. She explained the surroundings ideally.

Lowering his head, he sighed. This encounter had left him rather weary and each exertion was bringing him closer to the breaking point. "I want..." He smiled gently, raising his gaze to where he knew her to be. Dulled teal eyes tried to focus on her, but still saw nothing but the blur of her outline. "I want my mother back." The smile widened in a sullen way. "Can you give her back to me?"
