Waatame chuckled at the pup's enthusiasm. Carefully watching a particular, very fat, fish with her eyes, she told him, "Alright. Be careful not to fall into the water. I'm going to get you a fish to eat." Crouching along the shore, her paws just barely touching the water, Waatame prepared to lunge into the river and snap that fat fish up in her claws.

Hakim sat and stared at the water, and then stared up at Waatame, then back down at the water. He got up and walked away from the water, then walked back, and away and back. Hakim finally sat down once more, and tried to imitate Waatame's position exactly, extending his paws out so they barely touched the water. He held is breath for a moment, and then remembered to breathe and began to gaps slightly, all the time holding the same position. He wanted to learn this, and as he looked over the edge of the shore he gasped and fell backwards over surprise. Yelping he ran and hid behind Waatame shaking like a leaf, "Th... th.. th... there was a monster in the water!" He sat up and looked at Waatame seriously, "Not that I was scared of it or anything, but... it was big, and red with brown stripes... and it... it had these little wings like yours...." He frowned and thought for a moment before looking at Waatame expectantly waiting for an explination....

Jerked out of her hunting mode, Waatame gasped as Hakim dashed behind her, trembling. She brought her attention back to him and tried hard not to laugh as he talked about a monster in the river. With a sigh, she explained with a smile, "That's not a monster, Hakim! That's you!" She waved her paw above the water to demonstrate how the reflection mirrored her movements exactly. "Y'see, water is reflective - it shows you what you look like. That 'monster' in the water is just your reflection. See how the me in the water does exactly what I do? That's because it's reflecting me," she tried to explain.

"R....r.....r...reflection?" Hakim waddled slowly back over to the water and peered slowly over the bank. At just that moment he saw something peer over the water and chuckled slightly. "I... I knew that!!!" He tilted his head inquisitively and stared at himself for a moment before asking, "Do I really look like that?" He pointed at the water and began looking up at Waatame and then back down at the water. "I look a lot like you... yet... different... so... I.... I AM a Dragonfly..." Hakim sat down with a thump and grumbled. "Well... THAT changes most of my childhood..."

Waatame gave a barking laugh and asked jokingly, "What childhood? You're still a pup! And I already told you that you're a Dragonfly earlier. Why does no one listen to me?" A deep, rumbling chuckle emanated from her chest as her eyes danced happily. "What did you think you were?" she asked, her voice laced with mirth.

Hakim looked up at Waatame and frowned, "Well... I certainly didn't think I looked like you... I thought I looked like this thing called a flyzard... but... no never mind... I see it now... I can't deny what I see plainly with my own two eyes...." He sighed and looked back down at himself in the water. "Do I look good? Am I pretty... or handsome? I don't really know..." Hakim looked back up at Waatame wondering what the answer was.

Shaking her mane merrily, Waatame gave Hakim a close inspection with her eyes before announcing, "I'd say that you're cute, Hakim. Not really handsome - you're too young for that. Cute is good, though." She nodded once as if to affirm her words.

Hakim smiled and looked back into the water chuckling a bit. He frowned and squirmed happily when he noticed a fish swimming in his reflection. Reaching his paw out tentatively he placed it on the surface of the water. He rocked forward on his paw trying to imitate Waatame's previous posture. Rocking a little father forward he posed himself over the fish, and just as he was about to strike, he felt his purchase on the bank crumble and before he could do anything he tumbled into the water head first. He thrashed around a little and dove under the water. His uncoordinated puppy paws not very helpful in swimming, but he spotted the fish a little bit off and dove after it. He began to loose air, but finally caught up to it. Squeezing his jaws around his query Hakim felt it crunch in his mouth, but he paid no attention for he had truly run out of breath. Bursting from the water he threw the fish onto the shore and began to swim over as well. Coughing and sputtering he pulled himself onto the bank, noticing he was a little bit away from the place he fell in, he began to look about for Waatame, all the time thinking about how he had managed to catch the fish.
