I have added a new rule. No discussing how to work together to contribute to Artificial Inflation. The mods are unclear in this regard, I am not.
I have been going under the assumption that AI was a bannable offence on gaia. I have warned several people against it. Due to a response from SionOfWar I pmed a mod about it.
Casrial Lupas Deva I have been under the impression that AI was a bannable offence on gaia. And have not allowed it in my guild. What is gaia's policy regarding AI and guilds created for hyping up AI? Gaia does not take action on artificial inflation. ^^; That's our official policy. I Stand Corrected!

It's good to see you made sure, but I figured it was okay. There are a few guilds devoted to AI.

Yeah it's actually a popular topic within my guild, and I can imagine it's popular in other guilds as well.. The issue with AI is that in too big of a guild, people may see the thread and try to use it to their advantage without helping the AI at all (undercutting the others).
I also was concerned about discussing artificial inflation before, as it seemed like something the admins wouldn't support. Luckily, after a little of my own research I found out this was legitimate.
That doesn't make AI safe at all. As I've noticed through friends efforts, some AI goes horribly south and fast. It's pretty dangerous to attempt and I'd advise only the richest people to contemplate it, people who loosing a million gold won't ruin them.

Dj Mixx Lady Dragonstriper LONG LIVE THE DRAGONSTRIPERS!!!! Lupas do you have a rule about advertising/spaming? If you don't I think you should get one wink Actually, if you read the announcement, it's all part of a mutual raid between you of the MP Center, and us of the Dragonstriper Guild.
Spamming and posting of guild-style is part and parcel of our instruction. wink THERE'S A DRAGONSTRIPER IN YOUR FORUM, AND HE'S SPAMMING ALL YOUR THREADS!

I don't think it would be a good idea for Gaia to try and regulate the AI. It is part of a free market economy. Gaia seems to want to have a fairly realistic marketplace and organized buying is part of the real world economy as well.

frowned upon, but as stated earlier, they are not doing anything about it yet, they think it may become a banable offence... but they'd have to get rid of the botters, the spammers and a whole slew of other things before they'd consider going after it

Its good you are standing firm on this.

Artificially running up the price of an item seems to be a short term strategy at best. Some of the items I like to deal in have been run up lately, and every last one of them came right back down to where they were before as soon as whoever it was that was messing with them stopped.
I'm not averse to selling items I already have if the price is artificially high - that's just good business. But if I see someone is messing with an item, I avoid buying for awhile because the price is just too volatile for my taste. I'll wait until they stabilize again.
And there's no way I'm going to mess with items myself. WAY too risky.
