Tari straightened up at Lazarus' correction of the cake's name. "Ah!" she clapped her hands in delight. "Lazrus so smart!"
To herself, she mouthed the words, trying to remember the correct pronunciation and mimic it. "Caaa-kuh," she tried. "Not cakey... Caake." It was strange, but if Lazarus said that was how it was supposed to be, then okay. Unlike the flutterbyes, she didn't have any logic to back this one up. Besides, Lazarus was older than her, so surely he knew more about reading...
The sakura flowers weren't blooming in the cafe garden. "No sakura... mean no sakura tea?" Biting her lip, Tari looked at her menu again. The tea had been lovely on her first visit. But since her reading skills were lacking, maybe she'd just ask Natsuki when the waitress came back...

Lazarus was half tempted to correct Tariel's pronounciation of his name too, but thought of a better idea. "You could just call me 'Laz', no need to call me by my full name." he grinned. A waitress came in to take their order then, it was not Natsuki, it's a young girl that he doesn't recognise instead. He figured that Natsuki might be busy downstairs.
"Uh..." he tries to remember the dating scenes he saw on TV before, and tried to mimic how the guys do this when ordering food. "Give me one of this 'Death by Chocolate Cake'." he said as he pointed on the item on the menu. He flipped the menu to the tea section as the waitress scribbled the cake order on her notepad. "I see the Sakura tea on the menu though," he glances up from the menu to look at Tari, indicating that the words were more directed at her. "Perhaps you could ask her if they still serve them?"

"Laz," she repeated, drawing out the sounds. "Okies, I like. Laz. I Tari, then. If I use short name, Laz also use short name."
Tari beamed, swaying from side to side in her seat. She'd heard of nicknames - it meant you were good friends. She was so happy to be good friends with Lazrus - Laz, she meant - already.
And Lazarus must think so too, because he was offering suggestions for finding out about her sakura tea! She clapped her hands in delight.
Shifting around, she turned to the waitress. "Tari will has pink cake." One gold talon pointed to a picture on the menu of a strawberry shortcake. "And still has sakura tea? Big like for sakura tea!"

"Yes we still serve sakura tea." the waitress replied as she smiled politely to the two Raevans. Their lack of body parts seems to be bugging her a little as a small frown is seen on her forehead. But she tried her best to keep herself composed. "Would you want two cups of sakura tea then?" she asked as she write down Tariel's order.
"Yeah, two cups for us would be good." Lazarus agreed, closing the menu. "That would be all." he remembered that is how people in the TV ends the food orders. He must admit he did pretty well for his first time.
The waitress finished noting the orders and politely bowed before she went off. Leaving the two young Raevans alone again.
"So, Tari, right?" he realized he haven't called her by her name the whole day. But her name has a nice ring to it. "Uhm..." he know he should be talking to Tariel while they wait for their orders, that is what you do on dates right? You talk and get to know each other more. That is the first step anyway. But it was harder than he thought to start a conversation, his mind is mostly drawing blanks at the moment. "...so what do you usually like to do? Like uh... do you have a hobby or something?" he asked after a moment of pause, thinking to ask some of the more basic questions first in an attempt to strike a conversation.

"Hmm, like to do?" Tari hummed, one finger tapping her lips as she thought. Ah, Lazarus must be asking because friends did things together, so obviously he needed to know what sort of things they could do! How wonderful it was to make friends!
"Tari likes ... gardens and flowers. Yes. Mama has very large, nice gardens at home. And - and nice parks nearby here." There was a large park in Gambino that she and Kali has passed by before on their first visit here. "Flowers and flutterbyes are nice," she gave a tiny smile.
Let's see, what else?
"Ah! Tari not so good at reading," she flushed, Laz had seen that firsthand on this date, "but there are stories on screens... um... tele-vee? Yes. And big tele-vee that many, many people go to at once - Tari wants to see that."
She paused. So far there weren't all that many things she'd done, but she was just created, after all. Maybe Lazarus would have better ideas... "What about Laz? What Laz hobbies?"

Gardens and parks eh? Lazarus pondered about those things for a while. He never really liked going to places like those, since he always attracted people's attention due to his apparent lack of lower body. But it seemed rather fitting for Tari somehow. He liked to stare at Tariel when she talks though, so expressive and cute. For once, he wasn't looking at Tariel's boobs.
"I like to watch the TV... the tele-vee you're referring to, at home usually. All sorts of shows. And I like to read too." he decided to omit the porn magazine part. His eyes shifted to a side as he was reminded of it, feeling a little awkward and embarassed. He's not very good at hiding his thought and emotions.
"Big television?" at least this is something he'd be more interested in. "You mean like a cinema? I've never went to a cinema before too, to tell the truth." Should he invite Tari to the cinema next time perhaps? Since the both of them never went to one before. But wouldn't that be another date? "You want to go to one?" he asked, wasn't too sure what to expect.

"Ah, Laz likes tele-vee, too?" Tari clapped and bounced in her seat. "Same hobby! Mmm, Tari must work on reading." She pouted. It was so hard, how come everyone else could already read?!
Oh, and Lazarus also knew the other thing she was talking about. "Laz so smart!" she gushed. "Know so much! Lots! All!"
She was learning so many new words from him, too. "Cin-e-ma. Yes, cinema, we go." If it weren't for the table between them, she would have hugged Lazarus right this instant. "Laz has not been either? Another first time for us together!"

When Tari bounced, Lazarus's eyes unintentionally caught the bounce of her chest too. Bad move Tari, bad move! Lazarus thought sadly as he closed his eyes so that he wouldn't stare, a light blush graced his cheeks.
He was a little embarassed when Tari complimented about his smarts though. It's mostly just common knowledge for him, Kyou is definitely much smarter than he is. But perhaps Tari is just still very young, and couldn't judge so well yet. He feel a tinge of guilt as he looked at Tari. She looked so matured physically, but her mental state is still very young, it makes Lazarus feel like it's bordering *****. But it probably wouldn't hurt if they are just watching a movie together.
"Sure," he replied, lifting his eyes to look at Tari again. "We can go watch a movie in a cinema next time." though he wasn't sure what kind of shows they show there.
The waitress came back again then, carrying a tray with their food on it. With great dexterity, she served the cakes and drinks for them as she balanced the tray with one hand. "Enjoy your food." She said politely before wheeling around to leave.

Lazarus' offer of a trip to the cinemas earned a delighted round of clapping from Tari. "I look forward!" she bubbled.
She didn't think there was anything strange about the flush on Laz's face, as she had pink makeup around her eyes and cheeks, and also tended to have pinker cheeks when excited. Watching her friend, she just assumed that he was excited about another outing together, too.
"Thank you," she said politely to the leaving waitress, before turning her attention to their food. "Look so yummy!"
She wasn't entirely sure on the etiquette of eating cake, so she picked up her cup of tea instead. Sniffing it, she hummed her appreciation and took a sip. One of the floating sakura petals tickled her throat and she giggled, then hastily covered her mouth with her hands in case the giggles forced the tea back out.
Crisis over, she waited to see how Lazarus ate cake. Certainly he would know the proper way!

"Yes, it does..." Laz said in response in a less enthusiastic manner. Picking up his fork, he stared at the rich chocolate cake placed in front of him. He wasn't sure how to start, and definitely do not know what to expect either, since he never really ate a lot of food before. But if Kyou likes them so much, it won't be so bad right?
Alright, here goes nothing. Mimicking how Kyou does it, he dig in at the pointed tip of the cake. When the cake entered his mouth though, he finally understood why it was called Death by Chocolate cake. The chocolate was so sweet, the taste was too overwhelming for him. His face cringed a little as he swallowed. Perhaps he was just not used to actually tasting his food? But it was definitely a little too sweet for him.
He put down his fork and picked up the cup of sakura tea, the warm cup a welcoming touch to him. He was hoping the tea would be able to wash some of the sweetness away as he took a large sip. And thankfully it did. The milder sweetness of the sakura tea neutralised the overwhelming chocolate taste in his mouth.
"That was... interesting." he said as he let out a relieved sigh. Flabbergasted, he's not so sure what to do next with the cake. Digging back in is a rather unfavorable option at the moment. He looked at Tari's cake instead, the color was much lighter, and it definitely looks better to Laz, compared with the chocolate cake. He wondered briefly if it would taste as horrendously sweet as his cake.

Tari nodded to herself as she watched Laz use the small fork to break off bite-sized pieces of the cake. Wide green eyes never left her date's face as he swallowed the cake, and then took a drink.
Taking a deep breath, Tari picked up her own fork. The strawberry shortcake wasn't as easy to break as crumbly chocolate cake; the corner of her tongue stuck out the side of her mouth as she wiggled the fork to break through the harder base of the tart. Finally a piece broke off and she nearly crowed with delight as she picked it up and delivered it to her open mouth. Her face twisted into a strange expression as she tasted food for the first time. Sweet, tart, and fruity... it was like too much at once on her tongue. She burst in giggles, then her face turned bright red because giggling after eating cake couldn't be normal.
"Is funny!" she told Lazarus through her giggles. "Still good. Funny, but good. Lazarus want try?"
If they were going to try this whole eating thing that humans did, they should try everything they could. No sense waiting for another visit for Tari to chocolate cake and Laz to try strawberry shortcake.
