Why didn't Ozai just push Aang off the cliff? I mean, the kids exhausted and just because you can't bend doesn't mean you can't strangle someone. And he's a kid, kids aren't very strong.

Besides, how is taking away someones soul/bending less cruel than flat out killing them?

You can't kill the main hero in a kids show, not worth all the psychological damage.

As for cruelty... You better believe that was cruel but the subtly of overall cruelty of the issue would be missed on little kids so it was probably okay.

Killing = Bad.

Emotionally destroying a person by tossing them in jail and taking away a part of their very being = Good.

But you can kill Bambi's mother? Kids today are way soft, I remember growing up and seeing heroes die all the time in my cartoons. X-men, they fell left and right! I mean really? I think I'm a better adjusted person for seeing Jean Grey die. True, she came back, but even so.

Ain't that the truth. Unfortunately she's all I got as far as shipping for Avatar goes so I just drop the topic all together just to get her to shut up about it.

Aw. I miss when I was back in high school. I had a great group of Zutara shippers to hang out with. I even converted my little cousins to ship Zutara. XD My dad is a huge Zutara shipper, too. He was so pissed with the finale and he was like a little kid; making gagging noises when Katara and Aang played tonsel hockey. XD I did have one Kataanger friend, though, who was really fair. He didn't rub it in or anything that Zutara didn't happen. It's rare, though, to meet a non-bragging Kataanger. >.<

I didn't even have that when I went...*grumbles bitterly*. Oh well, at least I have the forum.

P.S: My brother, who's a non-shipper, did the exact same thing. He's also one of the few that was absolutely pissed with the 'spirit bending'.

Awww... *Hugs* Well, we're here for you. :3

Hahaha! I have to agree with your brother there. The spirit bending thing was so... lame. If it wasn't for the fact Ozai had his shirt off, I would have been flipping out during the finale. XD

Ugh. Spirit-bending.

It wouldn't have been so bad if it had been brought up in the show before. It just felt like such a cop out just bringing it up at the last minute, like, oh, Aang's getting his a** handed to him, but don't worry! He'll man up and turn things around any secon---OH WAIT BTW there's this thing, called spirit-bending.....

Ridiculous. But anyway, that's awesome, Rocky, that your dad was into it! xd

I agree. Had the lion turtle come earlier in the show, I wouldn't have minded it, especially if other characters dropped more hints about spirit bending. I was hoping maybe one of the spirits from the Spirit Realm would have discussed it with Aang before the finale, but that didn't happen. >.< Hahaha!! So true! I hated that! He just suddenly gets this new power as he's getting an a** whoopin'.

My dad is so crazy. He was shouting like a maniac, especially at the Zuko/Katara/Azula fight. XD He kept whispering after Azula was caught: "Come on, Katara... kiss him now... he just saved your a**..." XD

Since I heard they're making 3 Avatar live action movies based off of each season, I wonder what this finale will be like and what they'll change about it? I hope Ozai is hot. o_o

No kidding, I spent a great deal of my childhood getting emotionally traumatized... Thank you very much Disney.

As for the movie, Ozai is most assuredly not hot but Cliff Curtis is not hard on the eyes either... I'm curious to know if they will let him kill Ozai in the film, or maybe Aang and Ozai will both die. I like bittersweet endings and I think it could work in the Avatar universe.

Well, it is Shamalan, so it's entirely possible some aliens might come in and start probing or something. Or plants will be behind Ozai going crazy or there's some sort of mermaid or...Yeah...shamalan. Came to a realization though!

What wears a cape, Spandex, Boots, and has outlandish hair? A drag queen! This leads me to believe that Drag queens are super heroes.

Hahaha! If aliens show up in the Avatar movie, I think I'd be incapable of speaking for several hours. It would be the 4th Indiana Jones all over again, except with bending powers. XD Please, Shamalan, don't disappoint us by adding dumb crap to our Avatar movie! >.>

That realization is the best realization I've heard all month. o_o

I think Disney(well, old school Disney, before they went Hannah Montana) had it right. I was honestly never traumatized or shocked by anything in their movies and now that I look back on the movies I knew as a child, I can really appreciate the storytelling quality and make more connections. Maybe I was just a well-adjusted kid though.

But yeah, kids today are spoonfed garbage by the media that their parents let teach them, and that's when they're not watching something that they shouldn't be watching in the first place!. Avatar was pretty much the exception to the rule until the third season fell apart.

I ...Might have been ok with Ozai not getting killed at the end...if they hadn't degraded him so much. For one, the whole drool thing while Sokka was taunting him was just too much, but turning him into a sissy the instant he gets his bending taken away? come on!! You spend the entire show building up people like Sokka and Jet and even Teo who DON'T have bending powers but still kick a**, to come to the finale and have one of the most conniving, evil bastards just keel over into despair just because he had his powers taken away?

Sorry, evil masterminds don't work like that.

It's like these guys never read Marvel.

And an evil mastermind could work like that if you reversed the roles to where Ozai was the one standing proud and Aang was drooling.

But where's the escape hatch?! I swear, thos eguys need to watch more superhero cartoons. Or at least some decent Anime.
