a word to the wise: dont buy kustom

buy either gallien-krueger, hartke, or behringer. they make a good range of cabs. i had a kustom groove bass 215h and i wanted to upgrade my rig but NO ONE WANTED TO BUY MY BASS CAB BECAUSE ITS A POS. dont be fooled by their artist roster or cheap prices. kustom is NOT the way to go.

i have experience with gallien kruger personally. i had a 410 cab and i loved it. my friend jake has a behringer 810 and it sounds fantastic for how cheap it was and hartke makes good relyable cabs that they rip off of eden cabs(which are top notch) another company that i strongly advise you to look into is avatar. go to avatarspeakers.com all of their cabs are absolutly phenomanal!

You're actually recommending someone buy a Behringer? You can if you want, but it's like playing Russian roulette, you either end up with a very decent amp/cab, or a complete POS. Their QC is non-existant, and their business practices are so bad it's almost legendary. And how does Hartke rip off Eden? Good call on the Avatar and GK though, my new setup come tax return time is gonna be 2 Avatar Neo 4x10's and either a GK 1001RB II or a Genz-Benz GBE-600. Just remember, normally, with some exceptions (like Avatar), you get what you pay for, Kustom and Behringer may seem great in the beginning, but you're going to outgrow it.

Yeah, behringer makes decent cabs for their price because they rip off designs from other companys(their basscabs are rip offs of ashdown cabs)and like you said, its like playing russian roulette. the way hartke rips off eden is clear in the hartke vx215 cabinet. compare it to the eden d215xlt. ohh, thats tough. a gk 1001rb or the genz-benz gbe-600. two very good heads. my first amp was a gk and im always going to love them for their quality even in their backline amps. if you want more of a dirty sound, go with the gk, but if you want more of a clear sound with a more linear response, go with the genz-benz

I don't think it's clear at all, the Eden 2x15 is front ported and the speaker position is reversed, or is it just because the both have a 2x15 in general? A lot of have companies have 2x15 cabs, Mesa, Sunn, Ampeg, Ashdown, etc... And I'm also not too clear about how Behringer cabs rip off Ashdown...I know what they both sound like, it most likely will come down to what I can get for cheaper, I've seen them both go for about $350, just gotta see which one I spot first.

okay dude im not a ******** noob. i know my bass gear. and im aware that all those companys make 215's along with alot of other ones that your not aware of like Traynor(old), Peavey(old and new), Fender(old and new), and Low Down Sound. And im also aware that the hartke is front ported, instead of the top and bottem vents on the eden. but thats not the point. the point is, that hartke ripped off the dimensions, and the woofer and tweeter placement of the eden cab. AND IF YOU DONT THINK BEHRINGER RIPS OFF ASHDOWNS DESIGNS THEN WHY DONT YOU ******** COMPARE THE DESIGN OF THEIR AMP HEADS TO EACH OTHER. BEHRINGER IS LEGENDARY FOR RIPPING OFF OTHER PEOPLES DESIGN AND SELLING IT TO PEOPLE FOR CHEAPER. GODDAM! GET SOME ******** BRAINS NOOB!

Calm down, He's just giving advice, you gotta control yourself from insulting others; or else i got the power to get ya a one way ticket wink Just letting you know im watching this, just calm down and talk, it isnt a war over which brand is better or ripping off who

Mm..I can't say. The only Kustom Cab I had, someone put Peavey Scorpion 2x15s into it, so mine wasn't stock.

And it's true, Kustom isn't like GK, or Ampeg or something like that. It's probably going to be a little harder to offload, because most (75%, give or take?) people want popular name brand stuff, even if the lesser brand is just as good.

Also, you're looking at 4x10s, so it might be a little easier to offload on someone should you choose to sell it, but i've had a BEAST of a time trying to get rid of my old Kustom 215(g?). People love the way it looks, but not a lot of people play 2x15s these days. When i finally did end up selling it, I got boned because I payed $200 for it, and sold it for $100.

We were all stupid kids at some point, I suppose.

2x15s are actually my favorite for genres like metal or hardcore. 2-215's on each side of the stage is wonderful. lots of bass to go around and if their short stocky 215s like the ones i had custom built for me, theres more room to jump around and can be stacked under guitar cabs. i wish i could afford 2 610s because i like the way those look or maybe a 610 with a 118 or 121 on the other side for extra bass. but oh well. im working on building my dream cabs(replicas of the accugroove el whappo and el whappo grande but in clear plexiglass instead of carpeted plywood)right now and after i have them, i'll have no need for any other bass rig again, except a nice combo for practicing in my room.. woah now im just ranting

I, unfortunately(..well, ok. Not for me) do not play metal or hardcore. But I also don't know a whole lot about the genre's musical requirements, so I can't say what's good for it.

4x10s are perfect for a pop-punk band, not to mention tons more. I love the punch. I'm sort of looking at getting two Avatar 4x10s as soon as I manage to pay off my Power Conditioner, Compressor and a few other things.

Regardless, this is offtopic. I hope the OP got the information/opinions he/she needed.

I ended up going with it. Its prity nice, I'd like to get an avatar one of these days but for now I'm good with this, plus its way better then my POS Berhinger that I was replacing. That thing seriously had about 0% tone. and 100% poor construction. The kustom is decent for sure, though, and there are much better things out there for sure.
As for GK they are okay, hartke I've hurd good things, but not really my bag any ways. From what I've hurd SWR and EDEN are the best mainstream companies, and Avatar is one of the best things ever and from the one time I hurd them played I tottaly want one, but I need to save up a bit, and what not to get one.

Well personally I would never play out of a 2x15 since 4x10 is a lot more speaker area, and stuff. Plus I hate the tone of 15s and they have a slower response time.
And metal bands need to realize that a full stack of 4x10s is way better then all these huge speakers which really tend to muddy things up a lot from my experience.

Lets calm down man, no need to flame in my thread I was just asking really what kustom was about. Haven't regeted my purchise, and it sounds good enough. Personally I would have prefered an ashdown 4x10 to go with my new head, but that was simply out of my price range. And I needed to replace my berhinger which was way to over powered for the shoody construction of the cab, and I believe one or two of the speakers was gona go soon. I've still got it, and maybe I'll take it apart for parts and what not. So far kustom is an improvement, but I'm sure later I'll get something much better.
Now as for your spills into the lay out of cabs well, let me see you come up with some thing different that works well. Almost every 4x10 cab is excactly the same lay out with a few small variations on things, and differences in quality of materials.
And again no doubt that I will out grow this cab, but hey as long as it can stand up to some punishment and put out a decent sound for crapy bars in the back ends of california's heavy metal sceen, its not a problem.

Well I was looking at bass cabs today, and I chanced across one such cab for $280 USD, by Kustom, I've hurd of a few of their guitar cabs, they seem prity good, but I didn't know they made a 4x10 bass cab. The Deep End 4x10 to be exact. I'm not quite sure about this, I think it may be a good invetsment, but I could find no reviews about it, and there was nothing on their offical site for it either. Tell me is this a good thing to find, or is there some thing I'm missing.

i have a kustom groove bass 4x10 cabinet, it works very well, it weighs about 4oo lbs though whee

Oh well weight is not a issue, I have a bunch of hugh guys to help me out. Plus my bass weights in excess of 200 lb, so its not a problem.

Holy Crap

thats one HUGE bass!
I think I smell a typo. xp

No actually my bass, is made of solid Lead. I think I ment to talk about my rig in general or some thing but I'm not sure.

I think you made a good choice, from what I know of Kustom's they are reliable cabs you can beat the s**t out of. That's what I hate about my Hartke. I've had it a year and it's literally falling apart. Plus, i'm getting tired of aluminum cones. They were cool at first, but I'm just tired of the tone I get from them.

Well that's good to know, Since after my Berhinger started to fall apart, it is the second amp that I've had fall apart on me. Plus it sounds infantintly better then the aluminum cones on the berhinger.
