The boys nodded as they sat down and looked out at the fields of white. "what is the spell of the snow queen? you mentioned it before. Does it has to do with the legend you told us?"

"Mmm." he nodded, "As I told you, long ago, Winter and Summer made a game out of our world's creation... Winter... the Snow Queen... would use the magic of BEar Mother to freeze the land, and to steal away life with her kisses." he too looked out amongst the white, wondering if these two little ones would last the winter, "The snow queen takes joy in using her magic to place men under her spell, where they sleep e ternally."

the land was cold and white, with the villagers plodding through the coarse material to go about their daily chores. Outside one woman sat at her doorstep grinding dried wheat into powder in hopes of stretching it out a few days more in the form of bread. She wiped dark strands of hair from her face as she rubbed the grinding stone tediously over the grain.
The boys listened attentively as they sipped the warm soup from their bowls. 'so she is like a witch then, warrior?" The elder boy asked as he crossed his legs under him, uncut and desheveled hair falling over his eyes as he thought over the idea.

Back and fourth she went, re hidding food since it was fun to have them look, she found that stockings were common trhough the houses so smaller food stuffes were hidden there, also sometimes under pillows or the bed, being carefull of course to to wake anyone who might be asleep.

((Gonna do a slight FF so that we can get the ...inactive elements out of the picture))
The day passed, as did several after it. The people did indeed find the stashed food, and it did give them a type of comfort. The warrior disappeared into the night, unseen from then on as if a he had become a ghost in the winter's night. Even the stoutest warrior was not immune to the Kiss of Winter.
It was a little warmer out, at least the snow had ceased for the time being. The children were still encouraged to remain near their homes, though cabin fever prevented the youths from remaining inside longer than they needed to.
