Home Depot knows nothing about this at all. I told them I wanted something natural and they recommended something with pyrethin (also used to kill fleas). I said no, I want non-chemical and they recommended something with petroleum oil. I found this website www.naturescontrol.com/controls.html - 29k where they sell bugs. I can buy 5,000 eggs for 5 or 6 bucks. They hatch into tiny wasps that lay their eggs in the caterpillars eggs, which destoys the caterpilllar. They are too small to sting. I looked up the wasp species and other sites confirmed it. I will order it. This tree is on my deck, where we feed the squirrels and grill food. I really don't want poison on my deck.

Ladie bugs are an excellent natural pesticide for those looking to start a vegetable garden. They eat aphids and other insects that tend to damage and destroy many plants.

I found out a little more. Lady bugs will not eat these things, which I think are fall webworms, but the little wasps will. They need to be released in about a month when there are eggs to parasitize. There is a store in St. Louis which sells them. smile

Yeah, seriously...Almost everything environmentally friendly is expensive...Organic food, free range meat.... xp I think ppl should lower those prices and make the un-environmentally friendly stuff more expensive. That way you'd encourage consumers to use earth-friendly products. 3nodding

But, then again, I do live in a some-what rural area that is easily accessable to the local farms whee

I have a question:
are the insects native to your area? If not we might have a problem...

That would be a problem, so they'd need to find that out.
