nudity in art should be very acceptable I think, but to the extent where it is the study of the human figure. To learn about the nude human figure in drawing gives the artist a better understanding in developing where muscle lines are, positions such as the contropasto stance, and how the body has many shapes and sizes to it. I mean heck I have to take a class in which I have to draw a nude model who stands in front of us for 3 hours! lol. At first I think it will feel weird to draw someone nude, but it is for the sake of art and it's bettering my knowledge about the human body. I also think artists who come to age and are mature to see the nude figure should have the right to begin to draw the nude model.

Do you think nudity in art is okay? Or do you find it inappropriate?
I think it is okay.

What level of nudity is appropriate?
Whatever the artist needs to get their message across.

Do you like/appreciate nudity in art? Look at it?
It just all depends on what is in the picture, what's going, what its about.

Do you feel ashamed, if you do?
No, because its art.

Do you draw nude figures yourself? Do other people know about it/are you embarrassed of this?
I don't draw, but if I did I'd be fine with it.

Generally, when you see nudity in art, what kind of feelings do you have about it?
I see it as someone expressing themselves. I feel that the person has a goal and they're working toward it.

How do you feel about censoring artistic nudity? Should it be shown more often, more appreciated, even to younger crowds?
I don't think it should be censored, I mean it IS someone's opinion. Would you censor a picture of a llama? It could be shown and appreciated to younger crowds. They're gonna see it all eventually.

How do you feel about DeviantArt's stricter approach to this, in not allowing anyone under 18 to even have the option of viewing mature art?

It shouldn't be there. Half the stuff isn't that bad, and pretty much everyone on DeviantArt is mature enough for it.

Can we look at other cultures in comparison to ours, where often European countries are more open to naked bodies, and are less embarrassed with it?
Each culture is different, so it changes. What is considered acceptable in some cultures isn't in others.

Do you think nudity in art is okay? Or do you find it inappropriate?
-It is okay as long as the figure is not being discriminated because of it.
What level of nudity is appropriate?
-As long as its not disciminatory to any race/gender/religion its all fine
Do you like/appreciate nudity in art? Look at it?
-I belong to the HAC (Hentai Addict community) (jk)
Do you feel ashamed, if you do?(I don't really mean for this so sound the way it does, but I'm just curious about how people feel about it.)
-No not really... as long as i can look alone im fine
Do you draw nude figures yourself? Do other people know about it/are you embarrassed of this? (Embarrassed is a much better word than ashamed. Ashamed would imply that its really bad and what not, which really isn't the case. At least in my opinion.)
-I dont draw nude pics of me..cause i can look in teh mirror...

I think nudity is something natural and very beautifull.
And it will be hard to a good artist without seeing and analyzing live human.
I don't feel ashame of saying 'I like nudity and art where it is'. I even worked for some time as model in art college.
For me it is funny how americans censoring art, but forget about cinema. Every year hollywood doing dumme films about sex-addict teenagers and grown-ups. And nobody thinking about to censore.

I don't think there should be any limits to nudity in art. I don't think art should be limited at all! Whether you disagree with the art or not.

Shinys
I'm not sure exactly where the line between pornographic material and art is, it's more of a blur of degrees. Something can be very artistic and still be pornographic, something can be pornographic without being artistic at all, and of course something can be very artistic without being pornographic.

Simple difference. When it's beautifull this is erotic, when it's dirty this is porno. smile
