Alright, here's the dealie. I've been able to do this for a long time but I have no idea why. I'm helluva lot faster at night then day it seems. I haven't accurately recorded but I've raced a friend once at night and once again at day and the night one, I was noticeably faster. No, don't tell me I'm a vamp or a furry or something, I know I have some of the signs and such, which I will not mention due to the fact I don't want to hear it, but I'm curious as to why I would have that speed increase. Does it perhaps have something to do with perception? Any suggestions would be nice. Also, I have some odd quirks, if you need to know, ask.

Could be perception. Could be release of inhibitions. A lot of people avoid doing things like running in the dark because they don't want to fall or trip over something. If you don't have those reservations and the person you're racing does then that would give you an advantage.
Perhaps you just feel less drained in the night time. The sun makes you hot, makes you sweat, can give you headaches, etc. At night you don't have to worry about that.
It could be lots of different things.

I would think perhaps it might be linked to natural cycles. I know that I am more capable of doing things at night for very simple reasons which have nothing to do with anything then my preferences.
Let me give you an example. I can talk to my boyfriend in the morning and at night. He will be a surly rude b***h at night and sweet as can be in the morning. His time of being most active and awake and able to do things is early in the day. When he tries to do things at night he is less capable. He is louder less able to do things. He says he has great night vision but due to his bodies cycles he isn't as good at anything as he is during the day.
He used to have a night job. When he had a night job he had a completely different cycle. He was more able to do things during the night then the day. This matched my cycle better which has been the same since I was a child.
The more I am awake... the more I think
The more he is awake the less he thinks
I speed up, he wears down. So I think it really depends if he is a night person or a day person. Weather the more he is awake the less capable he is or the more. Also it depends on personal activity through out the day. Also how well a person recuperates from running. I mean a lot of factors play into ability not just psychological factors.
To tell the difference between a psychological factor and a physical one I would suggest trying to find both your physical states during each time of running. That would lead to a better conclusion

yeah, exact same thing for me, im a fast runner, but at night.. im ******** fast.. like.. i caught up to someone who was going full speed on a bike, running in less than 10 seconds.. i also dont know my exact speed difference, but its much much faster at night, also while im running i get kind of tunnel vision.
but.. i tried this during the day (while being the same awakeness factor as at night), couldnt do it, and another time, it was at night, but it was heavly lit (the other times was down by the beach on a path with barely any light, and (most recent, last week) was along a part where the streetlights didnt reach) i couldnt do it as well.. much slower than the other times..
could be some form of blinking, could be something else.. just if ur trying 2 run from me in the night ur ******** wink
