i actually used to think the opposite, that you couldn't get giftboxes outside of towns. i thought that rare items were only a town event because i spent so much time in towns, and for a long time that was the only way i received them. it was only until i started posting more and going into towns less that i realized you can actually get giftboxes outside of venturing into towns. so yeah, when that little surprise emote goes up, that means you received a pleasant surprise in towns.

I've been on Gaia almost 1 1/2 years. Never gotten a giftbox. I never go in towns, though, so that's probably it. biggrin

Actually, I got one the first time I joined Gaia. I received fox ears, but this unfortunately was with my first avi, I had that account hacked and lost it all, which is why I have this one now. crying

Most I got was waayyy back when I first started Gaia, I got like 2 gift boxes and a trunk all in one day one after another xD But never knew you could get them in towns eek heart

I don't go in Towns alot, but that sounds pretty awesome. :]
I've gotten at least 4 Blue Boxes, 2 trunks, and 1 Pink Box. I got a Pandy Pack from the pink one and I don't remember anything else I got.
