Alright chaps, you have all been chosen or accepted into my experimental media source for Gaia, but this won't all just be us running willy-nilly writing what we want in any form that we want, we need to get some ground rules down.
Reviews: We all need to adopt a standard scoring system for our game reviews, after looking through the reviews in the subforum, I have made the executive decision to stick with ONE overall score (example:
Daxelmans Ghost Squad Review) Also, if screen shots are used, give citations.
For those in the individual pillars, please communicate to the others in that pillar that if there is a specific game that you want to review, or work together to give our future readers multiple opinions on the same game. Just don't review the same game twice independently. Also, when writing a review, please put "REVIEW: [game name and score]" In the subject line.
Previews: Since we most undoubtedly have NO connections to the gaming industry, if you use information that was exclusively released to a media source (such as IGN.com), please make a citation of it. This also applies to screen shots pulled from any of the sites (though many have watermarks).
Give credit where credit is due! Like with the Reviews, please put "PREVIEW: [game name] in the subject line.
Articles: Like with previews and the reviews, please give citations to the source of the information. Though we are still a novice media source, we do NOT want to endorse any kind of plagiarizing.
One on One discussions: This is one of the aspects of this project that I really want to explore on, since we are all decent debaters, and are also fairly well informed of gaming news, I feel that we can really make this a drawing point for Viking Media.
The subject line would need to be (Example) "Part-Time Viking vs HistoryWak on [subject]".
It doesn't necessarily have to be people from different pillars either, since we all have some pretty different opinions on certain subjects.
However, this is also the spot where some trouble can come in, so it is crucial that we try to remain as civil as possible, and post links to back up some of the more unknown claims.
Most importantly: this project is for us to have some fun while we stretch our legs and test our journalistic skills. While I enjoy the thought of this possibly going somewhere and us possibly getting a full website set up, it's not to be taken too seriously right now.
Additional Editors: You folk are basically acting as interns, while I certainly won't prevent you from writing a interesting article, if there is a game that you'd like to review, you need to PM everyone in the pillar to ask if they want to review it first. Same goes for previews.
Alright, I hope that sounds good, if anyone possibly has some recommendations on changes, please PM me with them. Thank you.
